Personal Fan Reviews:

My friend Tabby sent me an mp3 about three weeks ago. I listened to it, and really loved the voice and lyrics of the file. It was the song, Niki's Theme. I had never heard any of his music before. Tabbs told me his name, and it didn't ring any bells. I was totally intrigued by the music I was listening to. I played the file over and over, closing my eyes trying to figure out what about this voice was so intense, and so fluent.

I searched the net and found some MP3's on a site from Holland. I downloaded Lucky for you, and When Susannah cries. While I was waiting for the download I read through some lyrics I had found on the net. They were all so beautifully written. The majority of the songs seemed to be about heart break, and contained a certain kind of unique quality and depth, a depth that I truly loved. The song Lucky For You had finished downloading first, so I played it. I read the lyrics as I played the song, and all these emotions came swelling over me. It was like this full intensity, and passion in this voice cradled the lyrics as he sang them. I started to cry, not a hard sob, but just an unconscious stream of tears, that was brought on by the sentiment of the song.
It's music such as this that makes me feel alive. It's when you bleed, cry or are in pain that you can truly find the human spark within yourself. The connection with things going on in your life, and the ability to see yourself and feel emotions through the music, that you can't quite describe or put your finger on with simple word or explanation.

I truly loved every song I downloaded. The majority of the songs were somber, yet exquisite compositions that express pure, human emotion. There are a few of them that are more "rock", as in Baby you're so cool, which is more upbeat, the lyrics are like, "oh my god I am obsessed with another woman, and I am going to go totally insane unless I have her." Then there is Messing with me, which is about mind games and cutting the bullsh*t in a relationship. They all convey some sort of human experience that we all can relate to in one way or another. An amazing mix of different flavours of "pop" all rolled into one album. It's got class, sensitivity, energy, and charisma.

I JUST recieved the album in the mail last week. I had heard all the songs save, All I Want Is An AngelIt's A Damn Shame About You, and The Buffalo Tapes.

I am totally in love with It's A Damn Shame About You! It's got some soul to it. It reminds me a slight little bit of Prince, but I can hear a lot of Motown in it also. Espen  definitely  has a certain style, a style of singing that's so very unique and wonderful. He really shines through in this song.

In The Buffalo Tapes truly touched me. I loved the sentiment of the song, and the way he sang about his father. My favorite part is when he sings falsetto, it's very emotional.

All I want Is An Angel is a very interesting song, lyricly. It's got an amazing beat to it, and the music is very upbeat and catching to the ear. It is a PERFECT song to listen to in the car.

I think most of his songs would fit perfectly into the hit TV series: Dawsons Creek. Don't you agree?

I've sent MP3's and real audio files to my friends from all over the world, and everyone seems to become instantly addicted to the voice of this brilliant artist. I totally respect the fact that he writes all of his music himself, and plays piano, key boards, bass, and the guitar. My opinion of him is immensely high, and I hope that he will become a large success in the States and all over the world as more and more people find out about him.

If you would like to share your personal reviews, and opinions of Espen's music, please e-mail me. I'll be sure to post them up on this site.
Thanks,
Angela
