Tomorrow: "its about the way we blindly leap forward, by means of progress, without regard to what will happen to us. I guess it's all for the betterment of mankind! (Progress (my fav BR song) is about the same thing) 'It's not intelligently planned...' " (Jack Smith)
Chimaera:
"asks the question, If god created us, and if he were so perfect, why would
we be such monsters? Why would we be such a disease on the
planet?" (Jack Smith)
Only Entertainment: Obviously, this song talks about how the news, television, technology are all just forms of entertainment. We take them seriously because they're such a routine part of our lives, but in actuality, that's what's destroying us. And at the end, Greg criticizes the organizations that have started because of technology, like the ignorant FCC. (Elliot Imes)
Generator:
"it's the metaphor of god." (Brett) The Answer:
This song says that: i disagree with the interpretation of this song, i feel that the song the
answer, is trying to show how blindly people follow, and how people feel
that they need some kind of answer, some kind of escape from reality, in order
to ease thier minds, and not have to think what if.... It is mostly trying to
tell us that religion is the big escape that we are using, and that people
except God, and bible versus simply because some preacher recites them,
without regard to validity. (Oron Mahgrefteh)
No Direction:
This song is about how the media and your idols will lead you to a
corrupt immoral way of life and how they wont give you a way of life. So
dont follow them and to follow your heart and live your life not theirs
or anyone elses. If you couldn't figure that out you are a idiot. (Troy Long)
This song is about the stupidity and blindness of "celebrity
worship". (Shevek01@aol.com)
What I have heard (and it makes sense to me) is that the
Generator is an atomic bomb. The images of the flower and the hummingbird
remind me of a famous political commercial that I saw from back in 64. It
showed a girl kneeling over a flower with a mushroom cloud in the background.
The second verse mentions a few thing that lack permanence (paper in the wind,
actors in a photograph, etc.) and seems to be suggesting that we are getting
precariously close to the edge with weapons of mass destruction.
The key to understanding the Generator album as a whole is seeing it as a
reaction against the Gulf War (Generator, Heaven is Falling, Atomic Garden,
and Fertile Crescent-- all songs that have to do with pacifism). (Jason)
1. There is no answer on how to go through life. "The searching
never ends..." Life is a constant struggle to find the best way for
you.
2. "Everyone begging for an answer without regard to validity."
People with problems often demand any kind of change without any kind
of regard to how beneficial it is. (Nate Brinson)
