WAKING UP IN MEXICO
I was in high school. I had my own TV, telephone, stereo and cat in my own room. Then I joined a group of 20 others on a bus ride south of the Border. I was going just because there was a cute guy going, but what I learned was more than what I ever expected. I wasn't a Christian, but the group was, and they were doing tent crusades in the mountains. Little old ladies came walking over the mountains for up to TWO DAYS to hear teachings from the Bible. I didn't understand. All I remember was "Gloria a' Dios." And there was a little Mexican Indian man that would dance with his wooden leg, and ladies who would bow on the dirt floors in their only dresses. What I learned was priceless. We have everything, but give so little to our Creator; and they have so little, but give everything to their Lord -- and they seemed happier. It was then that I longed to give up everything and live a simple life among people of their stature. And so I did.
They have so little, but they give everything...
One of my first shockers in Mexico -- meat in its original form. Unappetizing to us westerners, but makes THEIR stomachs growl!
