Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, hailing from Japan, is both a popular anime (cartoon) and manga (comic book) in many countries around the world. It is the story of Tsukino Usagi and her friends, the sailor senshi, and how they battle the ultimate evil and win. The series was written by Naoko Takeuchi, whose works include Codename: Sailor V, The Cherry Project, and PQ Angels.

The first 82 episodes (Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R) have been dubbed by DiC Entertainment. DiC lost the rights to Sailor Moon in 1999. Sailor Moon Super and SuperS are currently being dubbed by CWI/Optimum Productions. Sailor Moon S began airing on Cartoon Network as of June 12, 2000.

The three movies (R, Super, and SuperS) have been released by Pioneer Animation. There are to be three formats: subtitled, dubbed (uncut), and dubbed (edited). The R movie and S movie are scheduled to air on the Cartoon Network later this year.

The manga is being released by Mixx Entertainment. Mixx has also released the Meet the Scouts books.
