A rather hyper and idiosyncratic summary by Kristin
Okay, in the last chapter, Evil Hinoto (TM) lied to Sorata, Arashi, Yuzu, and Kamui about where the next kekkai-target would be, so they are all hanging out by some temple or something waiting for the DoE to show up. After getting the others conveniently out of the way, Evil Hinoto called up Subaru and told him that there was trouble at Rainbow Bridge. Subaru, being clueless as to her present state of evilness, hurried off to the bridge All By His Angst-filled and Beautiful Self.
SO. In the new installment:
[COLOR PAGE! Subaru dangling from the sakura branches, like in his Tarot card, except this time all you can see is his head and shoulders, and he's kind of looking sidelong out at you, and the petals are falling, and there seems to be water down below, because one of the fallen ones has left little ripples in the darkness. KAAAAAAAAAH. Pretty.]
Subaru is standing on Rainbow Bridge (famous suspension bridge in Tokyo), his trenchcoat billowing in the wind. He pulls out a cigarette, lights it, and has just taken a puff, when someone's hand grabs his from behind. And TA-DAH! of course it's Sei-chan, complete with black trench and sunglasses. Subaru half-turns, his one eye gone wide, and then, when he sees who it is, his surprise vanishes. He looks at Seishirou's hand holding his, and the cigarette burning there, with sad eyes.
Subaru: ...The ash is going to fall on your hand.
Seishirou: And you're worried about that? As kind as ever, aren't you.
Subaru: No. I've changed.
He pulls away to face Sei-chan, his expression serious, but Seishirou still doesn't release his hand.
Subaru: ...You changed me.
(Shot from the distance of the two of them in profile--white trench, black trench, both blowing in the wind, and Seishirou's arm crossing the distance between them. Hee hee!)
Subaru: Although I suppose it makes no difference to you at all.
They look at each other. Sei-chan is smiling slightly; Subaru is not smiling at all. Then Sei-chan reaches for Subaru's cigarette and brings it to his own lips (*indirect kiss*). We see then that his other hand is stained dark with BLOOD. (EEEWWWWW!) Subaru stares.
Subaru: ...You've just killed someone here, haven't you.
Sei-chan puffs away happily. Subaru looks sort of wretched and pissed-off at the same time.
Seishirou: Well, I am the Sakurazukamori.
Subaru looks downward with what might be resignation.
Next page: lightning crackles down from the sky, and Subaru reaches into his coat and whips out a bunch of ofuda. Sei-chan leaps back and puts up a shield. Explosions. The bridge seems to be rocking a bit. Sei-chan then jumps up onto one of the pylons and perches there, smiling perfectly easily, nasty evil bird of prey that he is. *HEARTS*
Subaru puts his hands together and *POOF!* *magic goes swirl swirl* makes his lovely star-shaped kekkai. [Cheers from the DoH side of the arena.] 2-page spread of fabulous kekkai covering most of the bridge.
MEANWHILE, elsewhere in Tokyo, the other DoH kids are sitting at some temple, bored as hell. Yuzuriha looks like she's falling asleep. It's like 10:00 (at night, I think???)
Sorata: The day's already over, and nothing's happened.
Yuzuriha: Yeah.
Sorata: It's way past the time the princess told us. I wonder what happened?
Suddenly Kamui goes PIKU. (Freezes, eyes wide.) He then starts to double over, clutching his forehead. Sorata looks alarmed.
Kamui: A kekkai.........!
Shots of Sorata, Yuzuriha, and Arashi, all in states of Dramatic! Shock!
Sorata: Someone's put up a kekkai!
Kamui shuts his eyes and concentrates, beads of sweat dripping attractively down his jawline. ^_^;;; (I hope you're enjoying this narration.) He scans the city with his magical senses, at last zooming in on Rainbow Bridge, and one of the figures standing there: Subaru, eye closed, coat billowing, a star shape floating before his hands.
Kamui's eyes fly open. (You can hear the cymbal crash right here.)
Last page: Kamui, flinging his head up, hair flying, sweat dropping, absolute horror written all over his face, yelling
"SUBARU!!" in letters that are very, very big. No exaggeration.

Kristin howls with joy and does a happydance. It's so beautiful. I just hope Kamui gets to the bridge in time to rescue our favorite onmyouji. Anyone taking bets? I don't think CLAMP is going to off Subaru now. That would be lame and pointless. I would be forced to fly to Tokyo and whip them all with wet noodles. Do we think that Kamui will finally manage to get with the program and do the kekkai thang? Will he wipe the pavement with Sei-chan? Or will Fuuma "I Am Kamui" show up to defend his favorite assassin/dinner date? Will they all end up taking a dunk when the bridge goes kersplash? OH the suspense. Maybe this time both Subaru and Kamui will sustain major wounds, and will wake up in a hospital bed together. *crosses fingers*
