More about me than you'd
probably care to know...

Ok, this is a long read, so make sure ya got plenty of coffee, tea or whatever you normally sit back and drink, make sure ya got enough smokes if ya need them, take a bathroom break if ya need one first, then pull up a chair and sit back and relax a bit:)

I'm not even sure how to really start this off, to be honest, so I'll start with some vital statistics in a nutshell and take it from there:
Name: Carol Anne Martzinek
Birthdate: July 14, 1963
Location: NY, USA

Hobbies/Interests: Being online, singing, volunteering for numerous causes, writing (could ya guess?:), spirituality, reading loads of books on a wide variety of subjects including, but not limited to - spirituality, true crime (particularly those focusing on serial killers), historical novels, horror, and some sci-fi/fantasy (no Danielle Steele novels for this woman:), singing, playing the flute, alto flute and a REALLY bad alto sax, and listening to just about every type of music imaginable. With a combined CD/tape collection numbering well over several hundred and constantly expanding, chances are, if I don't have it, I soon will:)

Oh, and did I mention my cats yet???:) I have 3 adorable (but sometimes mischievous) kitties. In order of their appearance in my life, they are:

Max - an orange and white brat cat, who, when he's not off proving to the other two that he's #1 in the place, alternates between sleeping and indulging his foot fetish by licking my toes while I'm on the puter.

Trouble - a part Siamese/part grey Tabby, who was definitely misnamed by his former owners, since he is the biggest Mama's Boy there is. Actually, when his former owners bought him as a kitten, they were stumped for a name, and everytime he'd walk into the room, they'd say "uh oh, here comes Trouble" and it just kind of stuck. Trouble is the ultimate lap cat, and he loves to sleep in the crook of my arm at night.

Ziggy (aka Zig, Bonehead, Psycho-Kitty and whatever else fits at the time) - an all-white kitty with beautiful blue eyes, who is most certainly not deaf, except when it comes to the word "NO". He was found by a friend of mine in a garbage can when he was 2 weeks old, almost dying and literally crawling with fleas. She took him in, nursed him back to health, and was very loathe to part with him when she married, due to her intended's severe allergic reaction. He now weighs in at 15 pounds of solid muscle. The world (and my head) is his toy, and, since he was "adopted" by my friend's chihuahua at a very early age, he occasionally has been known to act like a dog.

Education: Graduated John Jay College of Criminal Justice, February 1986, cum laude with a BA in Behavioral Science, with a minor in Anthropology.

Occupation: Project Administrator/Lotus Notes Database Designer for a wonderful company, American Management Systems, Inc. How I got here from studying Behavioral Science is an interesting story. I graduated college and was in desperate need of a summer job, while deciding whether or not to go back to school in order to earn my Masters to pursue a career in social work. Along the way, I was hired as a receptionist in the Systems Department of the brokerage firm Drexel Burnham Lambert, and quickly realized that I could make the same, if not more, money working as a receptionist with a BA, as I would working as a social worker with a heavy caseload and an MSW. Besides, I really enjoyed the people I worked with, and within about 6 months, I was promoted to a secretarial position working for a wonderful boss whose sense of humor rivals my own in warped-ness, and I was given my first puter to use, and IBM PC.

Well, we all pretty much know that Black Monday, Junk Bonds and the Insider Trading Scandal had a pretty lousy effect on DBL, and soon I was no longer working there. I did, however, manage to make the transition to another company, working for my former boss's boss (yeah, I know, it's a mouthful:) before DBL finally went Chapter 11. Things didn't go as well in the new company financially either, and over a period of five years, I worked in various fields including Human Resources for Capital Cities/ABC, where I worked for a great boss, but was unfortunately a victim of LIFO when we downsized, and was laid off after about 8 months of service with a 3 month paid vacation. My attitude when I heard I was being laid off wasn't *quite* what my boss and co-workers expected: "Hey, you mean you're telling me that you're going to *pay* me to do *nothing* for 3 months??? Where do I sign???:) After that, I wandered around, working for a while at the corporate headquarters of a firm that manufactured electronic components and sockets (yeah, REAL hard to get excited about THOSE:), and then did a stint in Hotel Sales, for a newly-opened Irish Hotel, The Fitzpatrick Manhattan. I really loved the hotel, however, it takes a certain type of person to work in one, and after a while, I realized that, as much as I liked the place and the people, I just wasn't cut out to be a salesperson. I then took a job at "The Company from H*ll", working for "The Boss from H*ll", and won't make any further comment upon THAT one:)

Then, one day, I happened to get in touch with my boss from back in the DBL days, who I had managed to keep in touch with over the years. Lo and behold, when I called, he was looking for an assistant, and his wife had suggested he get in touch with me and ask me, and the rest, shall we say, is history:) So here I am, a computer geek working in a technology firm with the latest software - what more could I ask for?:)
