They may follow different paths,
or march to the tunes of different drummers.
Some are young,and some are, well,
let's say, slightly more advanced in years.

They have seen me at my best,
and have seen me at my worst.
Yet, still they listen sympathetically
when I vent,
and moan,
and whine.
They have carried me on wings of laughter,
and helped get me through some my darkest days.

They have inspired me to greater things.
Each has brought their own special gift,
which has stayed with me over the years.
Despite physical distance,
they are all close to me in my heart.
