Community Information about Warrenton, VA
...the quaint little town located just 45 miles southwest of Washington, DC

The town of Warrenton, a "Virginia Main Street" community, is the largest incorporated town in Fauquier County, and serves as the County seat.   In fact, with a population of close to 6,000, Warrenton is one of the largest towns in Virginia.   The real estate tax rate in town is $1.06 per $100 and the personal property tax is $4.65 per $100.

Warrenton operates under the council-manager form of government.   Warrenton is governed by a mayor and a seven-member town council, five of whom are elected from the town's five wards and two of whom are elected as council members-at-large.   The council meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

A Town Manager, who reports to the mayor and council, oversees daily operations.   The excellence of the town's government has been recognized with state and national awards for fiscal management, economic development, neighborhood improvement, historic preservation, law enforcement, beautification and conservation.

Warrenton is a thriving, full service town which is home to 6,000 residents and nearly 700 businesses within it's 4.29 square miles.

With several well-maintained parks including the new rail-trail in Old Town, a wide variety of shopping and dining facilities, diverse housing choices and delightful family-oriented events in a Currier & Ives setting, Warrenton offers unique opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors.

Aside from the everyday attraction of Warrenton's historic Old Town district, there are numerous festivals throughout the year.   These include the Spring Festival (the third Saturday in May), Antique Car Show, 4th of July Children's Parade, the historic Warrenton Horse Show in late August and the town's annual Christmas parade and holiday festivities that last until First Night Warrenton on New Year's Eve (Warrenton's "Christmas in Old Town" was named a top twenty event in the south by the Southeast Tourism Society).   All summer long, music lovers can take advantage of the Bluemont concerts on the lawn of the Fauquier Courthouse in town.
