Saint Mary

East of Glacier National Park  June 1997

Just off the shore of the lower Saint Mary Lake, our first campsite of the summer had to be surrounded by tarps to make the wind bearable. We were told that high winds aren't uncommon at Glacier and tried to make the best of it, but it kept us from getting the canoe wet and that was pretty disappointing!

However, we weren't disappointed by the view of the mountains. This shot was taken from near our campsite; I'd brave that wind again to wake up to a view like this every morning!

Okay, this picture isn't actually at Saint Mary. I just happen to like this shot a lot. We took this on our way to Saint Mary when we crossed the Continental Divide at Marias Pass, just south of the park.
