I was hoping to evoke Homer Simpson’s notorious paean to deep fried circular bits of dough with the title, but if it comes off as the usual fangirl drooling, well, that’s applicable too. Allen and his bowl cut are named to the Caeli. Why does he look more like a girl with short(er) hair than with the waist-length cut?

Still brooding, but now in a delicious orange flavor!

Allen and the tragic love of his life, Marlene, share an embrace and... brood. They really were meant for each other.

EPISODE THIRTEEN

Like father, like son. It's Chid's turn to brood as Allen watches over him, probably wanting to give him tips.

Allen is surpised by Chid's sudden appearance. Stealthy little bastard, that kid. Well... little bastard anyway.

Allen, Van and Chid endure yet another reel of Duke Freid's home movies.

Damn it, Kaja! Don't grab me *there*!

EPISODE FOURTEEN

Hitomi and Allen are horrified to discover what Van really meant about 'bonding' with Escaflowne. Ah, a boy and his mecha...

'It looks like she's about to have a vision. Again. Jeez, Hitomi is one freaky chick.'

Allen is startled by the revelation that Van is a Draconian. And by how damn scrawny that boy is under the magic red shirt.

Allen gets a sedative and sleeps through his operation. Van gets tied down with rope and is left to scream in agony. Dr. Milly must have run out of painkillers.
