Dedication

To the officers and men who gave their lives, and

to my Grandfather, S/Sgt. Charles J. LiVecchi.

A Battery, 94th AFA, 4th Armored Division

Foreword

This is the simple story of one battalion, conceived in the throes of an unwanted war, dedicated to liberty, and assembled from the far corners of the United States. Five hundred men knit together as one by the hardships, the hell, the glory of the field of battle.

Though many heroic deeds have gone officially unrecognized, every soldier is a hero in the eyes of those who love him, and each knows in his own heart, the part he played in final victory.
