| Karabakh is one of the most beautiful regions of Azerbaijan. It is situated in the south-west of the country. In the year 1988 a war broke up over gaining the control on this region by Armenia. It continued until 1994, when the cease-fire agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the moment the region and 7 surronding districts are under the occupation of Armenian armed forces. Armenia managed to gain control over the 20% of the territories of Azerbaijan and consequently over one million Azerbaijani people had to flee from Armenian torture and became Internally Displaced People in their own home land. The Security Council of the UNO has adopted 4 resolutions (#822, #853, #874 and #884) demanding Armenia to withdraw its armed forces from occupied territories, nontheless, the latter keeps ignoring the will of the international community. |
