Chat guidelines

DO NOT!

1. Harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress or discomfort upon another GeoCities chat participant, user or other individual or entity, including the use of blatant expressions of bigotry, racism, hatred, or profanity .

2.  Transmit, via GeoCities chat & forum, any data or information that violates the GeoCities Content Guidelines. This would include the transmission of any data, text, files, links, software, communication or other materials that GeoCities considers to be unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;

3.  Participate in any activity that causes a disruption in the normal delivery of the GeoCities chat & forum service, including but is not limited to, using invisible screen names or cloning screen names, flooding the screen with excessive chat or images.

4.   Impersonate in GeoCities chat & forum any person, including but not limited to, a GeoCities staff member, community leader, monitor, host, or other participant.

5.Post or transmit any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation that are in violation of Netiquette.

GeoCities would like to notify you of the following:

For your protection, some of GeoCities' volunteer Chat Monitors or Community Leaders may have access to the live chat rooms to help ensure that we have the safest chat rooms online anywhere.

Currently, GeoCities does not maintain archives of the chat log dialogues or logins (screen   names) of the individuals who participate in chat room discussions.

GeoCities does not perform any analysis of the chat room discussions.

GeoCities encourages chat room participants not to give personal identifying information or GeoCities passwords to anyone in the chat rooms.

GeoCities does not control the acts of its members and visitors. All members and visitors should be aware that, when they disclose personal identifying information such as their actual name, member name, e-mail address, etc., in a chat room, the information may be collected and used by others to send that person unsolicited e-mail from other parties, outside  GeoCities.

If you encounter any GeoCities member who is improperly collecting or using information about users, please contact abuse@oocities.com ;  eShare Technologies provides the software for GeoCities' chat & forum environments.

Please do not give any personal information or your GeoCities password to anyone in the chat rooms. GeoCities staff will never ask you for your password because we already have it safely  tucked away.

Teens should be especially careful not to give anyone personal information about themselves (real name, phone,address, city, URL, age, gender, email address and etc.)
