It's so wonderful to see something dedicated to Woodward High School. My brothers, David ('73) and Douglas ('76) Barrow and I moved to Houston, Texas in 1978. We were unaware that Woodward had closed down until I found Classmates.com and Alumni.net websit
s and decided to check out my former classmates. Wow, what a shock! I know there has been some class reunions since we left in 1978, but we where never notified. Hopefully we can find out of any others from now on.
I just got married about 8 days ago and now live in Billings, MT (see my website). David and Douglas still live in the Houston, Texas area.

HI, even though my senior year was spent at WJ, I consider myself a Woodward alum. Just found the webpage and love it. I was extremely shy in high school- something I've gotten over, although now I may be at the other extreme-- and would love to touch b

I shouldn't at all be surprised not to see any
postings from fellow and lady classmates
regarding homosexuality. Really, everyone, as
if I'm the only gay boy from Woodward. I think
not. Nevermind. Just because the world has
come so far in its open-mindedness doesn't
mandate that those who choose to be left
behind ( or in the closet, for that matter) need
worry. But darlings, please don't wake me in
the middle of the night when some of your
children surprise you over a Thanksgiving
dinner with, "Mom, Dad, I'm gay. Please pass
the rice."
I'd like to send a special message to that
most unusual creature of Woodward, Mabel
Fountainhead. My, what adventures we had
together. Little was I to know that Ms.
Fountainhead's hysterical religious tirades
would prepare me so well for the outside
world. America, that is. Europe contains itself
with smart logic and intellectual zeal that the
strip-malled shores of the USA could never
match.
Mabel was a darling. The gemstone of my
years at Woodward. For all of her faults,
however innocent they may have been, she
was a clever girl and by far the most volatile
chemical in the lab otherwise known as high
school. If it could be said that those four years
are only part of one's personal lacunae, I
would have to say that Mabel was perhaps the
moon itself, if not even the rarest of full lunar
eclipses. Although others who knew her are
startled when I tell them what a fabulously
successful Hollywood agent and set designer
she has become, I am not the least bit
surprised. I always suspected that the Biblical
fervor with which she conducted herself would
ultimately be supplanted with a much more
useful and applicable energy. As it is, Mabel
Fountainhead is one of the most frighteningly
productive people I've ever known, and her
influence on my life is simply without
measure.
Several years after college I found myself on a
small but elegant boat in Austria! Having
always believed that I would find myself in
France somewhat dazed and confused, I was
delighted that the gods of whim had chosen to
awake me in such a comical manner.
Honestly, I have no memory of how I arrived on
that boat in Austria! But, there I was with a
flask of vodka and three cotton balls (and little
else, I might add) and when the bright
morning light stung my eyes I blinked twice
and suddenly began to laugh uncontrollably.
...Austria!
My German was never much good to me,
falling out of my mouth like those too-dry
crackers they love so much over there, but it
never really mattered, for I was always able to
meet extremely handsome men who spoke at
least four or five Romance languages and
were brilliant interpreters of English, as well.
While I never did have much of a knack (or
willpower) to hone a foreign tongue, I certainly
had enough skill to utilize my linguistic organ
in other, equally as important, ways. I have
only my cousin, Rose Hoover, to thank for
such knowledge.
Anyway, being the writer that I am, I see that I
am already giving away too much of the plot.
From Austria I launched a small career in rare
collectibles, which ultimately led to a chance
enounter with petit Spanish woman who was
visiting a local Austrian village to sign papers
to bring her deceased husband's body back to
Spain for burial. The poor man had been
traveling on business when an off-season
avalanche had buried 23 when some
wayward geologists accidentally released
their charge while researching the effects of
the sonic impact of commercial air travel on
the Alps.
Elsa, her name was, and she was to change
my life forever.
Best regards,
Julian Lloyd-Riversmith

The level of professional achievement of Woodward graduates is amazing. Kudos to everyone! And a special hello to all of the Garrett Park natives who've hit this site in droves. Everyone should be amazed by David Hearn, Bill Hearn's older brother, who
t age 41, placed twelfth at the Olympics in the C-1 races (whitewater canoe).
Now on to my suburban dullness: Courted and married Wendy Lee (a UCLA political science grad and now lawyer)in law school, made twin baby girls (Alyssa Marie and Cassandra Lee) and student loans debts then too. Been living in Sacramento since 1995. Gav
up soccer in 1997 after 23 years. New sport: litigation and business negotiations -- pays better and it's not hell on my knees. Both Wendy and I have our own law firms, which makes for pretty busy household between lawyering, socializing and the girls
usy 2nd grade lives.
Ram Neta is a professor of philosophy at the University of Utah. Joel Rudnick is a hotshot lawyer with a Washington, D.C. law firm. Steve Gould is Rockville, MD lawyer. Italo Travez owns a company in Northern Virginia. Hooshyar Harooni recently so
d the last of the family's businesses in the Los Angeles area and is contemplating his next move. Does anyone have a clue where Evan Gottesman went?

Hi Folks !
I heard about this site from one of the Margolis boys (Dave '85 and Bob '87), and I agree with everybody...this is a neat site!
After H.S. I received my BS in Civil Engineering and I'm currently pursuing my MS in Civil Eng. at Univ of MD. I'm currently working as a Civil Engineer, and next month I'll be sitting for the Professional Engineer Licensing Exam.
I've been dating my sweetheart Tracy for almost 3 years now, but I'm not married yet. No kids yet, either (my parents keep asking me "when are YOU going to give us GRANDCHILDREN!!"). Its good to see some of my old classmates are keeping the "cycle of life
turning by having kids. OH..I recently bought a house in the Howard County, MD area..I guess it's a start :-). On a more serious note, whenever I see my friends' kids I can't help but smile and think my life won't be complete unless I have some of my o
n someday :-) !
As far as fun goes, I still go down to my parents' beach condo in Bethany Beach. I also decided to pursue my childhood dream to scuba dive and got certified after college. I've been REALLY enjoying it over the years (I'll try to remember to post some u/w
photos sometime). I also like riding my bikes (Rock Creek Park is my favorite ride) and I just recently bought a kayak, all of which I keep in my living room when I'm not using them :-) !
Best of luck to everyone, and take care !!

Woodward was a pretty unique experience for me. Artists weren't usually in the main line of our little subculture and I doubt too many people even remember me all that well. I guess my favorite times were while I was dating Judy Tancill and Serena Colvin
Serena was especially wonderful and I was just too stupid to know it at the time. I hope she's doing well wherever she is.
Other than that, life's been pretty good. I'm on my second marriage to a wonderful woman and live near another alumni, Neal Coyer who is exactly the same as he was then.
I hope this finds everyone well and happy.
God bless you all.

Heard about this site from my sister Marcia (Class of 1984) and I see that my brother-in-law Jerry Deaton (Class of 1974, married my sister Marlene, Class of 1975) found the site also. I am sure that my brothers Mark, Class of 1978, and Mitchell, class o
1980, will find it soon. Great to read about old friends, especially the ones from Garrett Park. What a great place to grow up, especially having mom and dad own the grocery store. Had a great time at the 20th reunion 4 years ago and noticed that all
he guys look like their fathers now. Have been maried 15 years to Lynn, have a daughter Erica 10, and son Alex 6 (my hobbies). Just moved to Charlotte 5 months ago from Connecticut. When we left CT it was +2 degrees, and have not looked back. We are l
ving the warmth. I have spent the last 16 years with two medical product manufacturers in sales and marketing management after graduating from U of MD and later earning my MBA from Rensselaer. I have traveled throughout North America and even one South
merica country (Argentina). My wife retired from Pfizer to be a stay at home Mom, and has never been busier. Everyone is having a great summer, spending time at the pool and going away to the beach. We visit the Rockville area often to see the family.
Hope to hear from friends!
