The Aeorthan Fey Alphabet and Language

The Aeorthan Fey Alphabet:
Used throughout Aeortha, by Fey, Dwarves and Dragons alike, except in more esoteric rituals and blessings, the Alphabet of the Aeorthan Fey is relatively simple. It consists of 27 symbols, of which 5 are vowels (which sound like or stand for - A, E, I, O, and U) and the 22 consonants of the Alphabet stand for or sound like the following: B, Ch, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, R, Rr, S, Sh, T, Th, V, W, Y, and Z.

The Aeorthan Fey Language:
The language of the Aeorthian Fey is an easy to use Basic form of the Fey language. It follows most of the principles of the English language, however there are some key differences.

One of those differences is that all written words are feminine in form unless otherwise noted. The only way to make them masculine is by adding a < symbol before the word. Spoken Aeorthan is again feminine in form unless the masculine glottal stop (a short CHe sound) is said before the word, (ie. the word Santu, Aeorthan for worker, is feminine in form unless it is said, as CHeSantu). The plural of any word is said in the feminine unless it refers to an all male anything. (Ie. all the workers are male: CHeSantus; if some of the workers are male and some are female: Santus.)

Another major difference is that the written word has no plural form, the plural is expressed with a ~ following the word and a numerical value following that. The spoken language has a plural form, but it is expressed as a numerical value before the word, ie. The 13 realms. If no numerical value is used, such as, the many realms, (the written word for many in Aeorthian is Rethu), is given an accent of value, ie. if it is less than 10, the word is accented at the R, (ARe-thu), if it is more than 10 but less than 100, it is accented at the E, (r-EE-thu), and so on. (Over 100 but less than 1000 - re-TH-u. Over 1000 - reth-OO.) This goes for all words where a numerical value is implied. An accent is show with a dash under the syllabel to be accented. (Rethu)

Punctuation:

Unlike the English language, punctuation isn't as important to the Aeorthan language. However there is a couple of punctuation symbols that are used. The period or rather an end point is used, as well as a symbol that signifies a question asked. Exclaimation marks are used, but not frequently. Because of the nature of the Aeorthan text, a word break is used to show when one word ends and another begins. Punctuation is found at the end of a sentence, (the left-hand end of a page of text), unless it's a question, then a question mark is found at the beginning and the end of a sentence, much like the Spanish language.

Written Form:

Instead of being read left to right, Aeorthan is read right to left, with punctuation at the left of a page, with words in a book starting at what English speakers consider the back of the book. The written form of the language is a flowing script that most closely resembles Arabic, though some letters have a similarity to some Chinese and Japanese characters.
The Aeorthan Alphabet is always handwritten, in a delicate cursive format, never printed by machine. Since there are spells that will allow a book or parchment to be duplicated multiple times, all forms of the language are beautifully written in the delicate script and has never been made into a more formalized and soulless form. There is no lower case in the written form, only the original script.

Numbers:
Numerical values are shown with a series of dots/circles and slashes:

A Multiple of 5 is shown as the multiple 5 symbol with a numerical value above it, indicating how many times 5 the number is. The same goes for the multiple of 10, 100 and 1,000. Multiples of numbers above 1,000 and so on are expressed with a ^ then the symbol for 1,000 or 1,000,000, (the multiples of each expressed above it) plus the numerical value above it. So the amount 10,500 is shown as : ^ + the symbol for 1,000 + the numerical value of 10 + the symbol for 100 + the numerical value of 5.

Or like this:

While it appears complex at first, the number system becomes relativly easy to manuver once you understand the principles of it.
