THIS WOMAN, THIS WARRIOR: Custom Warbird

Warbird was created using my favorite female base figure, AoA Jean Grey. After years of struggling with jointed figures I've decided that for custom figures, articulation is not all that important. It's not like I actually play with them very often! Plus the dramatic pose of this figure just seems to suit my beloved Carol. First, I boiled the figure and removed the hairpiece. I modelled the figure after her recent appearances in the Avengers. The hair was carefully sculpted with Sculpey to make her hair as drawn by George Perez. Once the hair was finished, the figure was painted with acrylic paints. Matte finish was used to preserve the paint job. The sash is real fabric.
