Ms. Marvel #4 (April 1977)Title: Death is the Doomsday Man!

Summary: In the cave where she first gained her powers, Ms. Marvel ponders her renewed memories of her origin. But her reverie is interrupted by the attack of the Doomsday Man! The battle rages and for the first time in her short career as a heroine, Ms. Marvel is seriously outmatched! The Doomsday robot possesses a level of strength, firepower and resilience that far exceeds the Female Fury's!
When all seems lost, Ms. Marvel remembers that she is also Carol Danvers...and that Carol has seen this robot before! When the Doomsday Man's creator, Dr. Kronton first design the powerful automaton, Carol was assigned to monitor his progress and assess the possible dangers that the robot presented. Carol's report found the Doomsday Man to be far too dangerous and recommended terminating the project. Kronton did build the robot, but he also installed a failsafe device. Using Carol's knowledge of the robot's designs and Ms. Marvel's Kree perceptions, the Woman Warrior was able to ascertain the Doomsday Man's weak spot and activate the failsafe.
Just as the battle was won, the Destructor arrived, once again striking Ms. Marvel from behind! The Destructor then began to search the cave for Kree weapons, eventually finding the Kree Psyche-Magnitron! Opening this powerful weapon overwhelmed the Destructor and drove him mad. In his agonized, mindless rage, Destructor set off a huge explosion which once again unleashed the energies of the Kree Psyche-Magnitron. Ms. Marvel managed to escape the resulting cave-in, but not before she was exposed to the Magnitron's energies a second time! Shortly thereafter, Salia Petrie and her fellow astronuats found an unconscious Carol at the site of the explosion. Upon her return to New York, Carol receives an urgent call from Michael Barnett, who insists on talking with Carol about Ms. Marvel!
