Title: Bridge of No Return
Story: Chris Claremont
Art: Jim Mooney & Joe Sinnott
Summary: A seventh sense premonition alerts Ms. Marvel to an upcoming tragedy involving an armored super-truck, a deady explosion and the Avenger called the Vision! While trying to decipher her latest psychic warning, Carol Danvers also tries to come to terms with her recently revealed dual identity. Carol laments that she now shares her body with the Kree warrior, Ms. Marvel. Ironically, Carol seems to enjoy the thrill of being a super-heroine. When Carol visits Stark Industries as part of her latest journalistic investigation, she sees both the super-truck from her precognitive flashes and the Vision! Carol excuses herself and Ms. Marvel forces yet another transformation.
Ms. Marvel flies off to intercept the super-truck, creating a road block in hopes of preventing the disaster she foresaw. Naturally, this brings her into conflict with the Vision, who was riding along to protect the super-truck's deadly chemical cargo. The Vision mistakes Ms. Marvel for a super-villain out to steal the truck's cargo.
The pair battle, each underestimating the other. Finally, Ms. Marvel manages to subdue the Vision long enough to stop the truck. Once she does, she is attacked by the truck's driver! As they battle, it becomes clear that the driver is up to no good and is the true villain intent on igniting the truck's cargo and killing millions. The Vision arrives in time to help Ms. Marvel defeat the duplicitous driver, who turns out to be a robot. What neither hero realizes it they are being watched by the robot's master, MODOK.
Comments: This issue starts to build the internal conflict between Carol Danvers and Ms. Marvel, two souls sharing one body! This theme will be replayed years later when Carol's consciousness inhabits Rogue's body. This is also the first hint that Ms. Marvel's exposure to further Magnitron radiation may have altered her powers. In addition, this issue renews AIM's interest in Ms. Marvel.
