We celebrated our first Baptisms in February 2002

What a joyful day we had that Sunday.  We were blessed to have 6 members baptized into the church.  They are now our FOUNDING members.

We have more pictures coming of the actual baptisms...we will post them soon.  But right now I wanted to introduce you to some of our Founding Members with the pictures that we already have.

We have decided to name our church after our Sending Church, Maranatha Baptist Church.    (of Red Valley)

I hope you enjoy your visit, and I hope you will someday be able to meet them all in person.

This is Alberta Yazzi...she was 32 when she began coming to our church.  Her family owns the property where we meet.  She has been a Christian since she was about 15 years old.  She loves the Lord and the KJV Bible.  She wanted to come as soon as we told her that we were starting a church.

Our friend from Navajo Baptist Temple, Bro. Jonah Benn, is related to them.  So when we told him we needed a place to meet he said " I know just the family to help you"     We have been meeting in their building ever since.   Her mother Sarah also comes, but she does not speak any English so we REALLY need a Navajo Pastor here.

What a blessing Alberta is to the church....always willing to help, always faithful and so easy to get along with...she has a laughing personality.

This is Minnie Begay, she is not an official member yet.   She wanted soooo badly to be baptized that day, and she was ready too.   But her husband is a Road Man.  (medicine man)   and he said that she couldn't.

We are so happy that she is an unofficial member of our church though...and so happy that he allows her to come even though he does not agree with what we teach.  We pray that she will influence her husband to receive the Lord as his Savior.

I would not be the least bit surprised.

This family still lives with out electricity.  We are praying for the Lord to help them get the tribe to pay for it and have it installed soon.

They weave rugs and raise sheep for a living.  She also got her niece Lorraina (24) to come faithfully with her.  It is such a blessing.

The young man throwing the frisby (can't see him too well...sorry about that)  is Gerald Tso.  He is 13 and at a teen activity.

He was saved at one of our mid week services, but did not tell anyone.  When Bobby took them home from the teen activity he began to witness to his younger brother Raynold...who got saved in the van.   Then he said "oh, I did that on tuesday night after you explained it to us.  I had been worried about it...and thought about it a lot...I just did not know I was supposed to tell anyone."

ha!  What a wonderful day.  They were both baptized that day.

This is Bro. Brian Tso.  He was saved while out door knocking.  He was only 19 years old and in college to be a Civil Engineer.   He has been such a faithful member that sometimes he surprises us.

Even after driving 2 hours to school, and a2 hours home he still rushes in during the singing.

He has brought many of his brothers to church with him and 3 of them have been saved.  He brought his brothers girlfriend and she was saved also.  Her name is Autumn and she was one of the people who were baptized that day.  (not pictured)

When asked "Would you like to be baptized Brian?" He replied "I've been waiting Bro. Bobby!"  He also had 2 brothers baptized that day.

This is LaVera Yazzi, Alberta's older sister.  She was a member of the Christian Reform church down the road.  She never came to our church until January 2002.  Bobby was preaching a revival and Alberta compelled her to go with her so she would not have to go alone.

They came almost every night that week, and she was in church that Sunday.  She has not missed a Sunday since then and was happy to become a member.

Just goes to show how much influence folks have with their family.

This is Bessi and Harry, brother and sister.  They live right down the road from the church.   They started coming but were not saved.

One day Bobby and Bro. Jonah went over to their house to talk to their 89 year old father.  They needed a translator so Bobby spoke while Bro. Jonah translated.

Bro. Harry kept coming in and out of the room during that conversation, and when his Dad got saved that day....so did he.

When we pull up to pick them up for church he always has two things....his Bible and a great big smile.

So this is Maranatha Baptist Church of Navajo Country.   We hope you can come and meet us face to face some day.

We always have room for more in our little church....and if we get to crowded we will just have to build a brush arbor.

Hope to see you soon...and thank you for all your prayers and support!
