I knew that the Lord wanted to me to come to the Red Valley/ Cove area when I was sleeping under the stars one night on the reservation.

Some folks really don't like the desert but to me it is one of the prettiest places I have ever been.

Why is it called Red Valley?  Well look at the picture below....when you come across that mountain and look into the valley, it is the prettiest shades of red and orange that it looks like a sunrise.

The Lord put me in contact with the Yazzi family through a mutual friend.  Bro. Jonah Benn knew that the Yazzis had an empty building and that they were Christians.  When they heard the news that we wanted to start a church in the area they joyfully volunteered the use of their empty building for our services.   Mrs. Sarah and her two grown daughters have been coming ever since.

It is a small building, only 17 x 14, but it suits us.

We began meeting in September of 2001.  We averaged about 20 by the end of the year.  The Lord has truly blessed.

We have since painted it up and hung some pictures added some chairs and a pulpit and even a small organ, but its still a tight fit.

Our people seem pleased...but we do need a bigger building and have started adding on..

Our roads are pretty rough out here, so we will need to do some paving when we get enough money.  I believe that more people will come if we have a way to get them there with out them tearing up their cars.  :o)

The town we live in is pretty good size, but the town where the church is being built is not large.  They have a nice school that goes up to 8th grade...then they are bussed 40 miles into Shiprock for high school.

We have a Chapter House for meetings and a trading post.   The trading post is about the size of a convenience store.  They sell gas, propane and some groceries....like at a 7-11.  They are also the video store and the post office all in one.

There is not much out here....but in the 3 communities within driving distance there are over 3,000 navajo people.....so that is why we are here.

We have seen a lot of growth in our church over the years and the people are really great!
