"I've written a few riff sequences that are the bedrock for the most progressive song I've ever done... the time signature cheat sheet is going to end up looking like a phone number. I've been playing a lot of early Metallica, and a lot of Images and Words Dream Theater, and I've allowed those two to influence this song. It'll be interesting to lock the guitar part down and then start in on the melodies, I love doing my impression of a tone deaf castrati over ballsy frantic riffing.
The song starts off with the weirdest bit of music that I've ever written that serves as the main theme in various time signatures, which then eventually segues into a song any self-respecting shittastic thrash metal would write. That goes on for the first third of the song, and then just when you think you're going to hear the second solo from 'Battery', the song moves into the softer second third, which is strongly influenced by my love of Celtic music. After that, a chance for me to rest my voice during a slowed-down heavy part, and then the recapitulation with some cool shit going on, all Dream Theater-meets-Radiohead-style, and with the Celtic bits on top of it all being sung in rounds.
In short, the song as an absolutely ridiculous clusterfuck. If that doesn't describe things accurately, then I'm Johnny Appleseed."
