Cheops and his great pyramid:

Cheop's pyramid at Giza Lying on the Giza plateau is the 1st of the seven wonders of the ancient world. When it was first built,it was 146 meters high(now only 137.5 meters). The pyramid was built by order of king Cheops(or Khoufou) of the 4th dynasty. It took almost twenty yearts to accomplish the building using nearly 2.3 million blocs of stone each having an average weight of 2.5 tons and a maximum weight of 15 tons. The pyramid covers a surface of 53 thousand m2. Its outer surface was covered with a layer of smooth stone to reflect the rays of the sun as it rises as to welcome its arrival.
Each of the four faces of the pyramid is facing one of the four cardinal points. The length of the base is 230 meters with a difference of 20.30 cms between the longest and shortest sides.
It is due to Hemiounou the engineer in charge of building the pyramid that this building was accomplished so perfectly.it is to be mentioned that Hemiounou is the cousin of king Cheops.
The secrets of the pyramids still remain unrevealed:how were the stones raised? how did the pharaohs build this great pyramid with such simple technology and by only using stones(no cement what so ever was used)? and many more questions.
There are several theories concerning how the blocs of stone were raised here are two of them:
The first one assumes that the blocks have been raised by using a long ramp of sand which would have been stretched and raised as the pyramid grew higher.
The second one pretends that the blocs have been raised by using an ellipsoidal ramp.
But non of the above theories was found satisfying:each has been proved impractical for a reason or another.

Chephren's sphinx and pyramid in GizaChephren's sphinx and pyramid

The sphinx was built by king Chephren(4th dynasty) builder of the 2nd pyramid of Giza and son of king Cheops the builder of the great pyramid. It was built out of one block of rock at Giza. The statue has a body of a lion which represents courage and power, and a head of a man(Chephren) which represents intelligence and wisdom. It is 72.5m long and 20m tall. The statue had a beard 7m tall but only some fragments were found and are actually at the british museum. The cobra which decorated the nemes has disappeared. The face of the sphinx was coloured.
Between the 2 front legs of the sphinx,a 3.6m tall and 20 tons heavy block of rock lies.On this rock is carved the dream of Thutmosis the 4th.
Thutmosis IV's dream:
In the year 1400 B.C.,after a long day of hunting at the Giza plateau,a young prince went to sleep in the shade of the sphinx. And in his dream, the sphinx promised him to be king and to rule Egypt if he uncovered him(the sphinx) from the sand surrounding him (end of the dream). So the young prince uncovers the sphinx and becomes king Thutmosis 4th.

Mykerinos:

Mykerinos According to the legend, the fact that Mykerinos was a good ruler of Egypt offended the gods who decided to let Egypt pass through a century and a half of disorder. But Mykerinos managed well and defied the order wanted by the gods. The divinities informed the king that he would only reign for six years after which Egypt would be in disorder. So,Mykerinos ordered that,at night, lamps would be lightened so that he continues living at night.
But,the gods could not be contradicted and, according to the legend,Mykerinos died straight after his sixth year of reign.
