FAQs:
Do I have to come to every practice?
No. Most members attend approximately three times per week - some more, some less. All practices are certainly recommended, but always optional - this isn't varsity!
Do I have to try out to swim for you?
Absolutely not! Everyone is welcome, at any point during the semester, whether you're ex-varsity or you've never swum on a team in your life.
How much do you guys swim in a practice?
We generally swim between 4000 and 5000 yards, which takes about 2 hours.
Do you compete?
Yes! We usually go to two or three meets per semester, competing against other university club teams. In the past, we've gone to Atlanta, New Orleans, and even Ohio.
Do I have to pay anything?
No, not to join in the practices. Generally, swimmers pay a portion of their own fees (usually about $25) to help with meet costs, and swimmers who decide to order team shirts or swimsuits must pay for those, but there are no 'dues' or other required fees to join in the practices.
Do I need any equipment?
Just your suit, cap, and goggles. Pull buoys and kickboards are provided by the O'Connell Center.
Do we do any social activities outside the pool?
We certainly try! We took a team trip to tube down the Ichetucknee River in April, and several of us end up at Moe's a few times a week after practice, to get our Moo Moo Mr. Cow fix! We're always open to suggestions for team activities - to suggest something, contact Anna or Jenna (see the Contacts page).
