Updated Aug.06, 2004 - New Pics. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This site is dedicated to my 1988 Honda CRX Si. I got this car from a friend back in 1998, it was a tow away car and the owner never claimed it. Now that shit was beat up, the way the body looks like is the same freeking way it is now minus a few dins here and there. The original motor was blown when I first got it so it did not matter for I was going to change the engine anyways. I've changed pretty much almost everything on it from LCA to the sunroof, most of the parts taken were taken from a 90' Teg (Doner Car). My original plans were to drop in a B-series but back then it was a big deal and lots of money required, which I did not have. I also thought about getting an H22 but after doing some research I found out that it would not work for me cause I did not want to do that much cutting to the frame. Anyways in goes the DOHC ZC. Sorry I do not have a pic of it. Had some fun with it but eventurelly I was tired of it cause the speed bug got me. The came my first B-seires engine which came in the form of the LS. Since I was the first among our friends to swap engines in the 4G so it was a pretty big deal back then. |

This is my second engine when it was N/A. The first was the JDM DOHC ZC but I did not take any pics of it. I sold that shit to a friend and he did not change the valve cover gasket and the oil was leaking but failed to check oil level one day and spung the Mains. Anyways, this LS had Crower Stage III and duel Valve spings, DC 4-1 headers, MSD ignition, HCP Gen III motor mount brackets, HCP adjustible shift linkages, chipped ecu from Toyomoto(cool people), Ghetto stock exhaust 1 3/4" stock piping. My best ET was 15.1 @ 92MPH. (The Discount clutch was not holding on 3rd gear.) |

Here is a pic of the enigne when it was still stock with the Crower Stage III cams and stock LS tranny turbo. I used a RevHard Cast Manifold, T3/T04B stage 1 exhaust,.57trim compressor wheel, DeltaGate with 7psi spring, Vortech FMU 12:1, HKS SS BOV, Synapses missing link, 2 1/2" downpipe by Miami Muffler, Discount Auto Parts Slim fan 12" & 10", the IC was a Starion core modified with new endtanks, all aluminum 2 1/4" aluminum IC piping except that one next to the TB (but I since changed that piece), ACT HD PP with ClutchNet 6-puck sprung Disc. The boost pressure was kept at 6lbs and it was daily driven to and from work thru 45mins average traffic jam. |

Due to an unfortunate accident I melted the pistons on the first turbo motor. That is what I get for not tie strapping the Vaccum hoses on the wastegate. I was racing a friends 95 SC Stang. Well this would be my second LS and third motor swap. This motor was retrieved from a friend who had a wrecked 94 LS. This is actually kind of funny cause I blew my first turbo motor on labor day weekend, it was a Saturday night. Found the motor Sunday morning and went to work Midnight of Sunday so it would be Monday early morning. Finished the swap Monday Noon with turbo and all by myself. Motor was stock, the Crower cams were not used(advice given by Crower), notice the addition of the MSD BTM. |

After about a year and so with the last LS the pistons gave out on me and so I replaced the slugs with some LS slugs that I had. Unfortunately due to my lazyness of not taking the time to measure the bearing clearance I spung #4 rod bearing. So came the long awaited V-Tec, I always wanted V-Tec so that was my excuse. I hated this motor cause it's got no torque and this was originally an AUTO engine so the V-Tec lobes were tiny did not feel it at all. Out they go and in GS-R cams. WOW, I say what a difference. The motor was still a stock B16a but boosted nice, took a road trip to NYC with my girl and had a hell of a time except we got lost in NYC. The drive up was not that bad but I need to change those seats, not made for road trips I tell ya. Also go with someone that knows how to drive stick. Gas milage was not an issue for it gave me average 36 mpg at 85mph crusing speed of cause with no V-Tec. One day driving home from friends shop on the I-95 this VW getta wanted a piece of the CRX so I gave it to him then something happened. The V-Tec was not working but the oil light did not came on so I was like WTF. Drove it home slowly and parked it till morning. Morning came and checked the car, found out the oil pump gear shattered somehow, thank goodness the motor did not break, maybe I was using Mobil 1?? but my turbo was gone, bearings gave and compressor wheels got messed up. Oil pump was replaced with a GS-R unit which is the same shit was the Type-R, and turbo was replaced with one I got from the SAAB. Small as hell turbo but spool fast as hell but gave up at higher RPMs. |

Here is the new engine. After many months of being down, it's finally done. The ring lands were all broken when I disassembled the block. Was not supprised cause the compression reading was like 150 and 180psi. Click here for full details on Specs. |
