[Note: In regards to the inaccurate mention within some of these reports using the term "devil worship": for the uninformed, there is a vast difference between that, and Satanism. Devil-Worship is merely an inversion of Christianity, a heretical mythology beneath the aegis of spirituality, and remains within the Judeo-Christian spectrum, whereas Satanism is completely removed from that paradigm altogether, although we may sometimes use certain metaphores to establish a larger point regarding philosophical explacation. We do not "worship" an external deity, but recognize Ourselves as God absolute and supreme, utilizing archetypal symbology and psychodrama to manifest the incarnate Devil within. Satanists are the embodiment of the Satanic principle, the essence of the divine and the infernal. Again, those interested in educating themselves about Satanism should read The Satanic Bible by Dr. Anton LaVey.]

'DEVIL'S HIGHWAY' COULD SEE NAME CHANGE

By this time next year there might not be a U.S. Highway 666 -- at least the name will likely change. For more than 70 years a desolate, accident-prone stretch of mostly two-lane highway has borne the moniker, running through Utah, Colorado and New Mexico, ending at Gallup. Many have claimed "666" is unlucky, since the number is mentioned in the Bible as being the "sign of the devil," and a hellish highway it has been over the years with a much higher incidence of accidents and deaths than any other roadway in that part of the country. The Denver Post says New Mexico officials are leading the charge to have the road renamed and the other two states say they will go along. One major argument in favor of chucking the old nomenclature is that some cities along the route say businesses shun the area simply because of the road's name.

666. It's a number that carries a specific meaning that most people are aware of. Mentioned in the Bible, it is known for its connection with the devil. For years this number has struck fear into the hearts of many people and continues to do so today.

For that reason, among others, the government is pondering changing the name of U.S. Highway 666 that runs through the states of Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. Many commuters avoid this road for its numerical significance as well as businesses who wish to avoid the association of the road with their company.

It has also been noted that the road is highly susceptible to auto accidents and deaths, more so than any other roadway in that area of the country. There are those who view the connection of the highway's number and amount of accidents as a mere coincidence, while others feel the two are related.

Do you think there is a significant connection between the road that dons the sign of the devil and the frequency of car crashes? Should the government change the name of the highway? - Brian.

DIO ANTHOLOGY
{Photo of Reverend Matt G. Paradise with Ronnie James Dio}

Reverend Paradise with Ronnie James Dio Heavy metal icon Ronnie James Dio's career gets a 29 track, two-disc overview on "Stand Up and Shout: The Dio Anthology," set for a May 27 release. The set contains tracks from Dio's eras with Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Elf and his solo work. Dio's own detailed track-by-track notes and remembrances are included. Growing up in Cortemland, N.Y., Ronald Padavona, the man who became one of hard rock's all-time most distinctive voices, began his career with a series of high-school garage and doo-wop groups. By the time Dio formed Elf in 1970, he'd already had 13 years of experience playing rock 'n' roll. Elf was signed to Epic in 1972, and the debut album was produced by Deep Purple's Roger Glover and Ian Paice. As Deep Purple's opening act, he came to know Ritchie Blackmore, and later formed Rainbow with the guitar master. Rainbow built a reputation as one of the world's most popular hard rock bands, but musical differences between Blackmore and Dio led to Dio's leaving after only a handful of albums to join Black Sabbath after the departure of founding singer Ozzy Osbourne.

SATANISM ON THE RISE IN RUSSIA!
Compiled by John Vennari

Russia Special Services note that in recent years the number of Satan worshipers in Russia has been growing exponentially. The August 25, 1999 Moscow News reported "Thousands of our compatriots worship Antichrist, elevating him to the rank of the supreme deity. In the Russian capital alone there are now about 20 Satanist organizations. These include the Russian Satanist Church, Black Wolves, the Left Path, the Church of the 13th Apostle, the Southern Cross, the Black Dragon, the Blue Lotus, the Order of the Silver Star, the Black Brothers of the Demon of Monday, and others. More than 2,000 people ‘live and work' in these organizations. Every sect has a specific hierarchy based on blind obedience to its ‘ideological' leader."

Among these satanists, one encounters all sorts of amulets, trinkets, and body tattoos in the form of digits, words, and symbols such as "666," "A," an upturned five-pointed star within a circle, a skull split in half, crosses turned upside down, and swastikas. Their creed is based on the traditions of occultism, black magic, and cabalism. Examples of slogans include: "Death to All Things Living," "War on Christianity," and "God Is Dead, Long Live Satan!" Perverse satanist fesivals that include "black masses" are observed on Walpurgis Night (marked on the eve of May Day), Catholic Anti-Christmas (6 a.m., June 6), the Buddhist Mass of the Devil (from September 29 to October 13), Lames (overnight from July 31 to August 1), Candlemas (overnight from February 14 to 15), Fern Seed Night (July 5 to 6), Massacre of the Innocents (!) (overnight from December 23 to 24), and Halloween (the evening of October 31), as well as nights of a full moon. According to Special Services, Satanist organizations are often in close contact with (and sometimes simply duplicate) Nazi, fascist, and racist groups. It seems that these satanists take pains to conceal their identities. They will not make a phone call except in an emergency, and then only using a certain code. Most of the time they meet at night, conducting ambiguous conversations, full of words understood only to each other, while every interlocutor has one or even several aliases. Written messages are transmitted via the Internet or from hand to hand.

"In Russia today" writes Toby Westerman in the International News Analysis, "ritual killings of adults and children are becoming common. Security personnel attribute satanists with an increase of rapes, church and grave desecrations, animal torture and dismemberment, drug abuse and the practice of sexual orgies." Agence France Presse reported in September that Russia police arrested a leader of a satanist cult that had allegedly planned several terrorist bomb attacks. Police arrested Mikhail Naumenko, 22, a literature student at Moscow's Gorky University. Naumenko was carrying a Brazilian-made Taurus and several doses of heroin when arrested. Police also found 300 grams (10 ounces) of the explosive TNT while searching Naumenko's house.

Naumenko's devil-worshiping cult, the Black Dragons, is suspected of planning a series of explosions in popular spots during the Moscow Festival held at the end of the summer.

The report stated further that the satanist group has several thousand members in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don. Izvestia reported on Sept. 2 the arrest of four satanists suspected of killing nearly 40 people as part of their rituals.

Toby Westerman noted, "Modern communications have assisted in the spread of the occult in Russia. The British Broadcasting Corporation (February 1995) reported that televised seances are common on Russian television. One leading figure of the pop-occult world, a female occult healer named ‘Juno' from ‘post-Soviet' Georgia, has employed her ‘mystical powers' on former Soviet Premier Aleksei Kosygin and the (former) leader of ‘democratic and reformed Russia,' Boris Yeltsin." On a similar note, a July 28 report from The Current Digest of the Soviet Press, stated with alarm that social workers in Russia see "a growling negativism among teenagers" that includes "rock music, drugs that define groups, violence and a rise of interest in the occult.

Story 2

The recent arrest of twenty-two-year-old Mikhail Naumenko, suspected of planning terrorist acts against Christian religious objects, and the subsequent discovery in his apartment of explosives could force the public and law enforcement agencies to take a different view of the problem of the spread of Satanism and other related destructive movements in Russia.

Until recently in Moscow, as in the rest of Russia, no single terrorist act had been proven as planned or carried out by the followers of one or another occultic sect. As a rule, satanists are inclined to deface religious shrines with blasphemous slogans and bodies of slain animals. The greatest crime against an Orthodox church was committed in October 1996 when satanists set fire to a church in the city of Zaslavl. On the conscience of the servants of Lucifer also lies the murder in 1993 of three monks at the Optina Pustyn monastery. Actually, this triple murder is one of the few about which it is possible to state with assurance that is was ritualistic. All three monks were beaten with a ritual club with the "number of the Beast" on the handle and it was done on Easter morning, 18 April. And the murderer who was quickly arrested, Nikolai Averin, did not conceal either his participation nor his convictions. But satanists have still never moved to action which could lead to the death of dozens of people.

It is possible that in the past several years the ranks of the satanists have been expanded by converts who have more activist inclinations or this is a new concept for attracting adherents. In order to answer this question, one must understand just what kind of Satanist sects and cults now exist in Russia.

As the Segodnia reporter was told at the Moscow patriarchate, in the past decade they have managed to collect information about only ten organizations with pronounced Satanist characteristics, which includes some even in Moscow. Among them is the "Southern Cross" or the "Moscow Church of Satan," whose ideology is to win after death a place in Hell in order to serve Satan better rather than God. The largest Satanist cult in Russia in terms of number of groups at the present actually is the "Black Angel." It was formed in the mid-70s and possibly is a wing of the "International Association of Luciferites of the Eastern Celtic Rite." In the Black Angel adepts are divided into two categories: disciples and priests, from whom a chief priestess is elected (the followers of this doctrine consider that a woman is close to the devil).

Another sect, the "Society of Satan," is possibly one of the subdivisions of the "Moscow Church of Satan." The movement arose in Moscow around 1989 and is one of the largest Satanist groupings in Russia. Most of the followers are people of the creative professions and university and high school students, who are led by the chief priest and his fifteen associates. As regards Black Dragon, of which Naumenko was one of the founders, it was created in 1992 and today numbers several thousand followers. The organization publishes its own magazine, conducts Internet conferences, and is distinguished by its extremely brutal radicalism.

The "Black Dragons" call themselves the "most genuine, black satanists." Apparently this confidence is based on their scrupulous adherence to the precepts of the sacred book of satanists, the "Black Bible," which was written in 1968 by Antony Shandor La Vei. Actually this work calls the followers of Satanist cults to a bloody struggle with the world outside the cult: "Satan proclaims something other than turning the other cheek. . . . Return blow for blow; repay lavishly death for death. . . . Avenge yourselves four-fold, a hundredfold. Become the embodiment of Terror itself for your enemies." If one thinks about it, this is in essence a ready-made program for the outbreak of a terrorist campaign and today could be just the beginning of a wave of occultic terror sweeping over Russia. Who could be sure that Naumenko's act will not inspire his fellow believers to take more decisive action? We can only hope that counterintelligence, as in the case of Naumenko, will learn in time of crimes being planned. And if not? (tr. by PDS)

{It is known, that we make a distinction between 'devil-worshippers' {reverse xians, who derive most of their information from horror movies, heavy metal lyrics, and horror novels; or even if they happen to actually pick up a copy of The Satanic Bible, they pick and choose what suits them best, then carry on with their worthless "sacrifices", vandalizing, mind-numbing compulsive intoxications, etc.}; whereas true Satanists resonate with Dark Nature within and without, being a part of ourselves. Satanists worship The Self as God absolute and supreme, and prefer to study and thus empower one's being, and act upon the world as one sees fit.

Those mentioned in those stories are an aberration - a result of the xian tradition - some may evolve beyond the foolishness, while others will eventually return to church, and still others will remain stagnant in that mentality, eventually leading them to incarceration, death, or mediocrity. It is wise to perform The Black Mass as a catharsis, to remove blindlight influences from the psyche, and thus progress towards truly Satanic concerns.

The Church of Satan is an elitist organization, a Cabal, a mutual admiration society, and a think-tank, likened the Athaneums and Aristotlean Lyceums - we only seek those who are already for us, who will find their way to us in time, to join with The Infernal Empire, which represents the only real Satanism. - DB.}

Police launch Satanist probe
15 January 2003

TRIER - A television documentary about Satanism in Germany has spawned a police investigation into broadcast claims of occultists drinking the blood of innocent victims during bizarre sexual rites.

Prosecutors in Trier said Wednesday they were following up leads into "numerous illicit sex-related activities with an occult background".

"A 34-year-old woman filed a complaint which includes allegations of potentially serious violence," said Chief Prosecutor Georg J?ngling. He declined to go into details pending further investigation.

The investigation comes amid headline-making revelations in a ZDF TV network documentary on Satanism in Germany. The documentary was aired on digital Pay-TV earlier this week and was scheduled for national broadcast on ZDF Wednesday evening.

The documentary interviews self-proclaimed satanists as well as youthful members of the Goth music scene.

While some of the interviewees willingly appeared on camera and gave their names, others were filmed in shadows and their voices were disguised to protect their identities.

In the broadcast, a 36-year-old woman from Trier identified only as Steffi claims her parents were satanists who exposed her as a child to chilling rites in which blood-letting and group sexual activities were carried out with children's participation.

Some of the alleged practices were focused on the Trier area on the French border, but the documentary filmmakers denied tabloid press allegations of "an organised network of flesh-eating satanists" based in Trier.

"This is not an organised network but rather scattered groups across Germany, although admittedly some of them bear striking resemblances to each other," said filmmaker Rainer Fromm.

Fromm, who said he put two years of "very serious research" into the documentary, added, "You can dismiss all these people as just a bunch of loonies."

He said he had uncovered nearly 20 incidents of ritualised criminal activities ranging from murder to dismemberment and from blood-drinking to "snuff" videos in which victims are ritually killed on camera.

Complicating the legal circumstances, he added, is the fact that many of the incidents date back 15 years and were committed outside Germany.

Apocalypse Culture Now
by Ron Athey

Devil's advocate: Stanton LaVey is a Lifestyle Satanist.
- L.A. Weekly, MAY 31 - JUNE 6, 2002 (Photo by Anne Fishbein)

Stanton LaVey at Odium BEFORE RE/SEARCH PUBLICATIONS AND AMOK Bookstore refined the art of merchandising radical ideas such as Survival Research Labs' fighting robots or body-mutilation photos from real life and the stage, there was virtually no place to find examples of extreme culture. By the late '90s, between shock-value advertising campaigns (think United Colors of Benetton) and Internet access, it was virtually impossible to escape examples of extreme culture. However, often there's a sense of extreme simply for its own sake. Almost six months ago, the rock & roll strip of Sunset Boulevard became home to a new little shop of horrors that's trying to expand on the idea of extreme while providing a context.

At first glance, Odium is a bookshop and video store with a random collection of oddities thrown in. What Odium's founder has is a legacy, direct lineage to the prince of darkness: 24-year-old Stanton LaVey's late grandfather is Anton Szandor LaVey, who wrote The Satanic Bible and founded the Church of Satan (which in its heyday attracted such celebrities as Jayne Mansfield and Sammy Davis Jr.); his estranged mother, Zeena, is a priestess of the Temple of Set (a group formed by Church of Satan dissenters that worships an Egyptian deity); and his godfather is the experimental-film pioneer Kenneth Anger (Lucifer Rising). Stanton LaVey was raised in the infamous "Black House," where the LaVey family resided in San Francisco and held early Church of Satan meetings. No longer a member, he's held on to certain beliefs. "I'm a lifestyle Satanist. I do not practice rituals, but I'm a Satanist by default. Satan is only the metaphor. My grandfather, being a showman, used it as a scare tactic to get his point across." So forget about the pitchforks and fires of hell, LaVey Satanism focuses on the power and authority of the individual.

Stanton LaVey moved to L.A. and opened Odium with cult filmmaker and Charles Manson authority John Aes-Nihil. While LaVey admits 90 percent of his stock can be found somewhere on the Internet, he justifies it, saying: "If I could afford to keep this open as a research facility, I would. I'm taking everything everyone thought they were desensitized to, and putting it together in one place. I see the shop as an art experiment, a dissemination of information, breaking down the barriers of extremist ideas and ideals. I call it intellectual smut. Sometimes I can't separate myself from the shop."

The interior d?cor reveals as much: The walls and ceiling are covered in red fabric, a re-creation of his grandfather's private den known to inner-circle Satanists as the Red Room. The shelves are stocked with new and used black-power literature, fascist studies, serial killers' biographies, cult leaders' manifestoes, pulp fiction, and CDs by the skinhead band Screwdriver (banned from most music stores). And, of course, books on Satanism and magic. Cases and wall displays include T-shirts that read "Terrorist," Manson Family recordings, an autographed Louis Farrakhan photograph, Balinese ritual masks, Goddess Bunny film stills and Serita Vendetta's "flesh" paintings. Not so ironically, Marilyn Manson recently purchased the complete set of Sharon Tate crime-scene photos.

But it's live events that create the social structure: Odium has presented a series of performances by former Jim Rose Sideshow attraction Zamora the Torture King; Feral House publisher Adam Parfrey's Extreme Islam presentation, which featured pro-bin Laden/ anti-American posters, hats and T-shirts (an event that required armed security guards and metal detectors); and a DVD-release party for Rozz Williams' film PIG. Considering the offensive nature of Odium, there have been only a few confrontations. LaVey says, "I'm usually able to turn a situation into something humorous. Life really is absurd. Some kids grow up on Wheaties, I grew up on the occult."

* A group of Christian protestors disrupted a pagans' spring equinox ceremony in Lancaster, Calif., in March by blasting their car stereos to drown out the songs and chants of 300 "witches and warlocks" [misnomer]. What apparently really set off the Christians was the pagans' merry attempt at "animal sacrifice," which they accomplish by fonduing a candy bunny. When a pagan leader yelled "Sacrifice the chocolate rabbit," the Christians leaped from their cars and advanced on them, but violence was averted. [CNN-Reuters, 5-2-02]

Plus, The concept of humanimal and animal 'sacrifice' has been a constant part of J/x traditions, not Ours. "God" sacrificed his own son, Isaiah nearly sacrificed his son for 'God's' amusement, jews & moslems sacrifice/d animals to their blood-thirsty god/s - not Satanists. xian propagandists attempted to divert blame onto Us, but have failed, & Hellyweird & Horror Metal is just great show-business. xian devil-worshippers misunderstand Our religion & eventually return to jehovah, good riddance, whom they never really left, because of their limited dualistic natures.}

* Bishop C. Vernie Russell's Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church (Norfolk, Va.) has raised $340,000 from his congregation in 14 months for the specific purpose of helping randomly chosen members (59 so far) to get out of debt by having their credit-card bills paid off by the church, according to a June Wall Street Journal report. At the special, monthly "debt liquidation revival," congregants dance and chant, "stomping" the devil, who is believed to be the cause of the credit-card debt in the first place. Lucky winners must cut up their cards and attend counseling, and Russell believes "cured" borrowers are much better tithers. [Wall StreetJournal, 6-12-02]

{All this nonsense will be terminated when these leeches of x start to pay taxes and pull the weight of their cross in society. If money is the root of all evil, & a wealthy-man cannot pass through the eye of a needle much less enter the 'kingdom of god', then these xians are inviting 'the devil' into their lives by this! Damned back-woods slurring yokles. Relics. Throw-backs. This is classic transferrence of blame upon a figment of their imaginations rather than on themselves.

The 9th Satanic Statement rings true: "Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!" Absolutely. Hail The Black Pope and HAIL SATAN!}

* More Violence in Jerusalem: In July, Ethiopian Orthodox Christian monks brawled with monks from the Coptic Christian Church of Egypt at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (the site of Jesus' burial and resurrection) after an Egyptian on the roof moved his chair into the shade. Warning...Extremely morbid

A 17-year-old British girl took her obsession for all things vampire way too far when she attacked a deaf pensioner in the woman's home. The 90-year-old victim was watching tele- vision when the teenager approached her from behind and stabbed the woman 22 times. Then she cut the woman's heart out, wrapped it in newspaper, and drank her blood. After creating gashes in the woman's legs, the young girl propped her victim up in an armchair, and as some sort of statement, put fire pokers at the woman's feet in the shape of a cross.

{Seems pointless, but rather artistic. Also, couldn't she do better than a senior citizen, even as a first kill? Surely a young girl could have coaxed a virile victim. Anyhow, such types are vampire wannabe's - and this one has already assured herself a life of mental hospitals and imprisonment. Killing some old deaf lady is weakness - where is the thrill of the hunt? The seduction, the romance, the utter indulgence in the flesh of your belusted. Seems like she became pre-occupied with the horror-wood media depictions in fictional films, rather than what a true Vampire is.

Being a Vampire entails much more than mere blood fetishism. The super-human predator is the embodiment of the nosferatu-archetype, from mannerisms, fine taste {in aesthetic & all of life's delicacies}, one's total environment {which may include a coffin and elegant surroundings}, eloquence, charm, and the development of one's psychic & Magical abilities attributed to the Vampire - the supreme hunter. We partake of the herd for our amusement and gratification - for pleasure and profit.}

"Simply Dapper", age 6 months, won four prize ribbons at the American Fancy Rat and Mouse Association show in Costa Mesa, Calif., in May. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the rodent's "shiny beige coat, sweet temperament, and a blood line dating back 12 generations" were the main factors in his success. Contest rats have fancy names (e.g., "Himalayan" rat) but cost only a few dollars to acquire and are genetically the same as ordinary, Dumpster-diving Norwegian rats. [St. Petersburg Times-Wall Street Journal, 5-20-01]

{Quite adorable. I love rats. I have had many to make My acquiaintance - furless rats (or 'snarks', as I dubbed them), hooded rats, white rats, black rats, brown rates, and silver rats. Each have their own specific personality, and I have named them in kind. I never understood the fear of these lovable furry creatures. It seems that all the animals the masses fear or hate I have admired and kept. It seems rather obvious to Me when thinking about it. Most of the animals they despise are predators such as wolves, bats, lions, tigers, snakes, black cats, owls - carnivorous creatures that display the most noble of qualities, and are mentioned in Epinox as being reflective of The Satanic aesthetic. It is not altogether surprising that the herd feel themselves more in relation to prey animals, mostly plant-eating animals who serve as food for other animals. It is interesting to see many presentations in which animals are characters where the prey either 'outsmarts', or 'defeats', or is 'saved' from the horrible fanged lurkers of the dark and the wilderness. But this can be seen in a Jungian light, if you think about it. The Satanist recognizes that this is ridiculous, as Nature sees no moralistic dividing line between the species except that which is the law of the jungle. Foofoo the bunny rabbit or the piggies are devoured by the wolf. Bambi the deer is consumed by the lion, in all its bloody gore. The predators happily chew and tear at the flesh in a family unit, equating to a wholesome supper-time. Ergo, the family that preys together, slays together! The roadrunner always eludes Wiley Coyote. But these are cartoons, faerie-tales, unrealistic comedies, yet these depictions do provide a glimpse into the psychology of the aptly-named herd, who are inexorably attracted to the prey. I have always rooted for the villain, the natural hunter, the predator, and admired the grace by which he captures and feeds. So-called 'cutsie' creatures have evolved that way to attract the predator. And this can be seen in a crossover manner into the humanimal kingdom as well. In the human realm, we as super-human predators do not take anything against its will, but we hunt in more subtle ways, making them realize their station in life, and flowing in accordance with their natures as we do with ours. Thus, the distinction between the rubes and the leaders. Life is the hunt, and you can choose to be the predator or the prey. For he who ceases to hunt, becomes the hunted.

As for one's Infernal Progeny, I would much rather give them a plush toy of a little wolf or lion cub, or baby bat or baby snake, or even a dragon, than a bunny who is destined in nature to be eaten by a stronger and cleverer animal, whom is more relative to the psyche of a born Satanist.

As for the rats, it is amusing when I see depictions where they are equated to The Devil, or when some woman jumps up on a chair to avoid their scurrying frame. I can understand avoiding certain wild creatures and admiring them from afar, so as to respect their environment and space, and in some cases, avoid the possibility of the transmission of disease, but I have always felt more of a kinship than any kind of revilement. My animals have always found Me, and they generally come and go as they please, and some have even become familiars, yet we enjoy eachother's company from one hunter to another.}

Religious Tolerance, American Style

The new chaplain at Wisconsin's Waupun Correctional Institution is a Wiccan. The Rev. Jamyi Witch's hiring was defended by the state Department of Corrections, which says Witch -- and that is her real name -- met the job requirements, and barring her based on her faith would be illegal. "I minister to everyone's needs. I have no interest in converting anyone," she says. Another full-time chaplain at the facility is Protestant; only about a third of the inmates are Christian. Outraged State Rep. Mike Huebsch promises to strip funding for Witch's position, even though he previously argued for more chaplains in state prisons.

{Apparently, they cannot see that a weakan and a xian are quite related in their dispositions and anthropic proclivities. I would agree that this is discrimination, but in My opinion, weakans are just another xian denomination, considering the comparisons between "The Goddess / God" can be equated with "jehovah / mary", and their "white magic" attitudes of "harm none" and karma can be equated to "The Golden Rule". Being that they claim not to believe in xian deities is irrelevant, considering they carry the same basic characteristics. The word 'Witch' is misplaced in weaka, as it carries a nefarious connotation, of which weaka is decidedly not. Now they whine about wanting to be accepted by the masses, presenting a harmless disposition, veritably likened "Glenda the 'good' witch". weaka is the new xianity, and in this newage climate will probably gather more adherents to this erroniously misnomered "old religion", which in reality, the term is only about as old as the early part of the last century, mentioned as a joke by Gerald Gardner's superiors, who then ran with it. And needless to mention that the so-called "witch-burnings" were no such thing, but the victims were actually people from whom the local xian governments desired property from, or their bodies {many were raped}, and accused by disgruntled neighbors, only because they had better crops, or one disliked the other. So understandably, the weakans identify with the victim mentality, along with the misnomered "witch" titles, which seems appealing to bad bunnies seeking a rebellious identity, as in "black sheep" instead of wolves, yet desiring to stay on the "safe" side at the same time. But The Devil will take His due. I see the previous story as yet another example of the xian-type preying upon their own. ~ DB. HAIL SATAN.}

WICKED WORDS

Panglossian ´ \pan-GLOSS-ee-un\ ´ (adjective): marked by the view that all is for the best in this best of possible worlds: excessively optimistic; Pollyanna.

Example sentence: Christians have a Panglossian habit of looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.

Origins: Dr. Pangloss was the pedantic old tutor in Voltaire's satirical novel Candide. Pangloss was an incurable, albeit misguided, optimist who claimed that "all is for the best in this best of all possible worlds." puissant ´ \PWIH-sunt or PYOO-uh-sunt\ ´ (adjective): of great force or vigor : strong, powerful

Origins: "Puissant" has some powerful ties to some more commonplace English words. Although "puissant" has a considerably fancier feel than "power" and "potent," all three words share the same Latin ancestor: "posse," a verb meaning "to be able." "Power" came to us by way of Old French "poeir," which is itself thought to have come from "potere," a Vulgar Latin alteration of "posse." "Potent" came from "potent-," "potens," a present participle of "posse." A different form of the present participle was "possent," which became "puissant" in Old French. English speakers borrowed that "puissant" in the 15th century.

Texas Woman Awarded $300,000 in Exorcism

TEXAS - Evidently the power of prayer just isn't strong enough for this Fort Worth congregation. The pastor and several members of Pleasant Glade Assembly of God Church in Colleyville were found liable for abusing and falsely imprisoning Laura Schubert, who was 17 at the time Schubert, now 23, claimed that members of the church were attempting to perform an exorcism on her to "keep or drive demons out." She said the experience led her to mutilate herself and attempt suicide before finally seeking psychiatric treatment. David Pruessner, an attorney for the church, argued that Schubert was suffering from a mental disorder and that church members didn't harm her. The Tarrant County jury sided with Schubert and has awarded her $300,000.

This vigilante pummeling, and the accompanying parade, are a sanctioned tradition where last year more than 108 lynching attempts took place.

EXAMPLE SENTENCE: The draconian decision of the Roman leader both punishes the rotten and rewards the Strong.

Origin: [18th century] Draconian "excessively harsh" is a monument to the severe code of laws drawn up in 621 BC by the Athenian statesman Draco. Its purpose was to banish inequities in the system which were leading at the time to rumblings and threats of rebellion among the common people, and to an extent it succeeded, but all it is now remembered for is its almost pathological harshness: the most trivial infraction was punished with death. When taxed with his laws' severity, Draco is said to have replied "Small crimes deserve death, and for great crimes I know of no penalty severer."

He gradually dwindled over the centuries, but a hint of his former power remained in his placatory alter- native name Robin Goodfellow.
