MYTHS: All milk tooth
don't fall
FACT: All milk teeth falls off
MYTHS: Even if the
milk teeth are effected by cavities ,the permanent teeth will still
be all right.
FACT: Cavities in milk teeth effects permanent
dentition in a variety of ways.
MYTHS: Regular flossing
will increase the gap between teeth.
FACT: It is one of the very effective methods
for prevention of cavities and nothing should stop you from doing
this .
MYTHS: Scaling (cleaning
of tooth) weakens the tooth,or leads to gap between tooth.
FACT: None of these is true.
MYTHS: Extraction of
tooth effects vision.
FACT: Extraction of tooth does not effect
eye sight in any way.
SOME FACTS ABOUT TEETH
1 Tooth formation starts in the mothers womb,
hence what mother eats has a direct impact on its development.
2 Presence of fluoride in the drinking water
makes teeth more resistant to cavities.
3 Thumb sucking, nail biting , mouth breathing are some of the leading
cause of malformation of teeth.
4 Third molars are not considered important
functionaly.One of the reason why they are left out in artificial
dentures.
5 There are 20(twenty) teeth in the milk dentition
and all of them are replaced by permanent tooth.
6 First molar is the first permanent tooth to
erupt in the mouth usually by the age of 6 years and does not replace
any milk tooth in doing so.
7 Milk teeth starts erupting at the age of 6
months and by 24th month all 20 milk teeth have erupted .
8 Milk teeth are whiter in comparison to permanent
teeth .
