He thought about creating some kind of machine which could fly by itself. Of course, everybody thought he was completely crazy. A few years later, the Wright Brothers created the first airplane. Alexander Graham Bell was thinking about a way to communicate through space. We can now communicate with people around the world. Every great dreams begins with a dreamer. At 8 years old, Glenn Cunningham heard a terrible news: physicians told him that he would never walk again after suffering from severe leg burns from a gasoline explosion. But Glenn didn’t want to give up on all his dreams. In 1938, Cunningham became the world's fastest miler as he set a new record at Dartmouth College. I could name a lot of people who had dreams. Dreams that we are sometime too ashamed to even consider it. All these dreamers had to confront all critics towards them. Some people thought they needed psychological help. It takes a lot of faith to follow a dream. Do you dream with faith? Do you have impossible dreams that are burning inside your heart with passion? Or are you the kind of person who claims to be realistic and don’t allow himself to dream the impossible dream? Poeple who don’t have dreams don’t have much. I believe we are our worst enemy. Our fears, our lack of faith, our incredulity. There are two things that amaze me: unshakable faith and lack of faith. Of course, I prefer to be amaze by unshakable faith. We see what we want to see. We believe what we want to believe. If you strongly believe you can move mountains, you will. If you believe it’s impossible to move mountains, you won't. It is that simple. Look around you. Everything that is around you. Did it not have been built by dreamers, by idealist, by love? Our society tries to communicate us what we should be dreaming of. Publicity follows us until public washrooms. We should be dreaming of glory, they say. Just think about American movie or music business. But these dreams are useless. We’re never satisfied when it’s about money, work, glory, pride. I believe in pure dreams. Great dreams. Dreams that are not self centered. Dreams involving love, justice, great visions for the world. That’s why every great dream begins with a dreamer. |
Comments Dream Big by DoBeDoBe on 05-Oct-02 at 07:21 PM I liked what you said, all of it, especially: "I believe in pure dreams. Great dreams. Dreams that are not self centered. Dreams involving love, justice, great visions for the world." Keep dreaming the big dreams, not of what you could have but of who you could be.
