The AS161 expedition
was partly supported by
IREF

This event (AS-161 IOTA from the Sacrifice Rock, India) was successfully operated on the 26th and the 27th January 2002. We have logged over 3,800 QSOs in less than 30 hours of effective operating time, with 8 operators and 4 stations working on most HF bands on SSB and CW.

This is the second IOTA event to be coordinated by VUIOTA, first one being the AS-096 in May 2001, which was equally successful.

Thank YOU for making this happen. AS-161 was a new activation from the Sacrifice Rock, in the kerala state group of islands in South Western India.

The Sacrifice Rock is a rocky structure about 13 kms in the Arabian sea in the state of Kerala around the South Western Coastline of India. There has been no operation from this island so far due to its fairly difficult approach. Due to total absence of vegetaion and 100% granite rock structure of this rock, very few venture to even visit this island. Thank God we're back alive, and that you'll now receive your QSL cards!

We hope we picked each one of you who will tried to reach us.
Hope to catch you on the band again in the days to come..

Best 73, and looking forward to working you again!
