               ANCESTORS
PETER MARKLEY - born about 1790
  Peter Markley was born about 1790 in West Salisbury, Somerset Co., Pa. He died 1837 in Ashland, Ohio, and is buried in Dublin Cemetery about 12 miles S.W. of Columbus, Ohio. He was the son of Joseph Markley and Susanna Wagerline (sometimes spelled Weighly).
Peter married Mary or Polly Kurtz in 1812. She was born in 1795 in Maryland, she died in  1864.
    Peter, Mary (Polly) and family moved to Ashland Co., Ohio in 1824.         
     Peter Markley and Mary or Polly Kurtz had the following children:
        1) Rachel Markley Cring-born-1811--died 1891
        2) Josiah Markley
        3) Joel Markley born-July 14,1813--died April 25,1888
        4) Matilda Markley Long (James) born 1823-???--died 1858
        5) Catherine (Nancy) Markley Mock (Jacob) born Sept. 21, 1822--died Mar. 21, 1898
        6) Lafayette Markley born Aug. 9, 1823--died Aug. 26, 1904
        7) Frances (Fanny) Markley Franks (William) born Oct. 6, 1826--died Oct. 21, 1887
        8) Mary Ann Markley Seibert (Ezekiel) born 1830--died 1851
        9) Susannah Markley Markley (Mathias) born May 23, 1832--died Aug. 20, 1898

NOTES:
          A) Mathias Markley, husband of Susannah Markley, was the son of Horatio Markley,
               the brother of Peter Markley--Susanna's father.
          B) Peter and family moved to Ashland Co., Ohio in 1824.
          C) The Mocks lived in or near Hilliard, Ohio.
          D) Mary or Polly (Peter's wife ) spent her last years with her daughter
             Catherine (Nancy) Mock and is buried in Dublin Cemetery near New Hillard, Ohio.
  It is assumed Catherine went by Nancy sometimes since the notation on back of card refers to her as Nancy .

  Catherine (Nancy) Markley, 1822-1898, and husband Jacob Mock. Nancy was a sister of Lafayette and Joel Markley, daughter of Peter and Mary or Polly Markley.
   Mary spent her last years with Catherine and family.
