FINLEY PHILANDER MARKLEY

Finley was born Jan.29 1860 in Hilliard, Franklin Co., Ohio, he died March 5 1937 in Lakeview, Ohio. He is buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Auglaize Co., New Hampshire, Ohio. He was the son of Lafayette Markley and Elizabeth Myers.     Finley was married twice--first on Aug.19,1862 he married  Rachel Jane Sprague. Rachel was born May 15, 1862 in Fort Amanda, Allen Co., Ohio, and died Oct. 4, 1909 in Lakeview, Ohio. She was the daughter of Henry and Margaret Tyson  Sprague.                                                                                                                                     Finley P. Markley and Rachel Jane Sprague had the following children:                               1) Franklin Guy Markley (Frank)-born-Aug.25,1885--died Sept.6, 1964                               2) Lafayette Markley (Lafe)-born May 27, 1888---died Oct. 16, 1974                               3) Harry Henry Markley-born-April 22, 1892---died in infancy.                               4) Frederick (Fred) Markley-born Oct.18,1895---died between-1960-1962                               5) Harold Markley-born-June 2,1898---died-1944 Finley and Rachel acquired  120 acres of land in Lakeview, Ohio, on which they built a new 8 room house in 1909, the summer before Rachel died. Later their son Lafayette and his family owned the house. Finley was married the second time Nov. 24, 1910 to Hattie J Taylor Cox-born Aug 24, 1875-died Aug. 20, 1966.                              Finley P. Markley and Hattie Taylor Cox  had one child.                                1) Lola Josephine Markley Campbell (Virgil)-born Aug. 19, 1911       NOTES:         1) Lafayette Jr was married to Bertie Swartz  Dec.2, 1910             Five Children:a)Sylvan-b) Cleona -c)-Wilma,-d) Ernest(Opal K)B-1/1/1914-D-1/15/2004-e)Irene-f)Pauline             2) Fred was married to Hazel Chiles, April 30, 1921  one child - Fredrick Jr born-1937          3) Lola was married to Virgil Eugene Campbell, Nov. 29, 1935         .

Home built by Finley and Rachel in 1909( summer before Rachel died).on Markley farm on Stringtown Pike,Logan Co.Lakeview,Ohio  Picture taken 1918. Son Lafayette owned this Home after father Finley'sdeath in 1937.
