We all know that the Xbox standard has a 10gb hard drive, but what for
advantages does that have for us?
1. Loading times The loading times will be very short because data is stored temporarily on the hard drive and loaded from it. We all know the hard drive from a computer loads very fast so same will be with the Xbox. 2. Level size The size of a level can be huge without any loading. So you don't have to load a new part of the level every time you open a door (resident evil). By caching data on the hard drive sizescan be reached of much higher then the system's 64mb RAM. 3. Personalize your game I personally hate the soundtrack of Final Fantasy so I allways turn down my televisions music and put on a cd but now you can store your own mp3 files on the hard drive and use those soundtracks in the game and so listen to your own music while playing your game. Of course this won't be available in all games cause some games just need their own music in the games, but certainly for racing and fighting games it's pretty handy. 4. Store updates Developers will release new updates for a game to make the games better. You will be able to download these updates and install them in your game. Now I hear everybody yell: PC!!! but no this is different. It won't be updates to restore bugs but just to make the game nicer. For example new skins or levels for Unreal. 5. Saves Of course you will be able to save your game on the hard drive. So you don't have to buy $30 memory cards with limited saving space. You will be able to store as many saves as you wish without buying anything extra. |
