Karzoul is located on the Eastern Shore of Valeria. It is one of only two settlements of notable size on the island. It is located at an intersection of the Forest that dominates the northern third of the island and the Mountains that dominate the southern third. It is a major export site for lumber and minerals.
Most of it's inhabitants orginate from the continent of Sorain. Clans of Kitarians and peoples of all races who are members of the Golden Eye struggle for control of the city, sometimes openly, but normal with subtle political pressure. As of late, fighting in the streets between the two groups is not uncommon.The Children of the Light have a presense here as well, but are they are new to the area and not completely trusted yet.
The town sports an excellent tourist trade as well. Rich merchants and noble from around the world come to the area to hunt. Normally led by local guides, they venture into the forest and sometimes as far as the Ruins in the northern part of the forest. ;Lately, hunting parties have returned home with fanciful tales of strange, horrifying beasts roaming the forest around the Ruins. The local government is being pressured by all political factions to throughly investigate these stories, but as of yet, they have done nothing except send parties to the nearby rural settlement to gather info. |
