Elves

Of the races that migrated to Philenos, the elves were the most effected by the inert magic in the lands. As
they formed there own communities across the lands, the began to change, physically and mentally. Now
that thousands of years have gone by since the migration, the elves now appear as a part of the lands they
inhabit. There are currently 5 known types of elves. The Monon are the elves of the Mountains, the Granon
are the elves of the Plains, and the Silnon are the elves of the forests. The elves that were polluted by the
lure of Shaylock are the Draknon, also known as drow. The fifth type of elves are the Hihnon. The Hihnon
have resisted the pull of the lands and remain primarily as the race was when it first came to the lands. It is
said that it is impossible for the the elves that were changed by the magic of Philenos to ever get lost.

Monon (Elves of the Mountains)
The Monon are made up of the tribes that settled in the mountains. They are more dexterious and stronger
from climbing the rugged mountains and cliffs of Philenos.  Their time in solitude has effected there ability to
deal with others and the harsh environment in which they survive has turned them more to solving problems
physically instead of mentally.

There appearance has also changed to reflect there mountain home. Most Monon are of a skin color that
matches there mountain homes. Skin of shades of dark brown and grey. There hair is often dark brown  or
black. Their eyes are normally a shade of brown or grey, but silver and blue are not entirely unknown.
Green and gold eyes are very rare among the Monon.

(elven traits as in the players handbook, except the following)
* +2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Int, -2 Chr
* the harsh reality of living in the mountain regions of the world have left them with skills suited to surviving
there.  Monon receive a +2 to Survival as well as a +2 to Listen, Spot, Search, and Climb
* having to know there landscape out of nesesity has given them a +2 to Knowledge
*Monon are proficent with longswords as other elves, but the scarcity of wood in some regions has lead
them to turn to the sling and thrown weapons instead of the bow. They receive a +2 when using these
ranged weapons.
*The are also able to cast the spell Know Direction one time per day for every 2 character levels.

Granon (Elves of the Plains)
Where the Monon took to the rugged mountains, the Granon found their homes on the long, rolling, wind
swept plains of Philenos. They tend to be migratory to this day, living in small mobile communities that
follow the wild herds of the plains. The scattered tribes of Granon gather periodically to pass on knowledge
and trade. They tend to be more free spirited and carefree them some of there brethern. They are very
dexterious and like their mountain cousins, they have turned more towards feats of atheletism then mental
prowse.

They to have changed to match the landscape in which they reside. Granon tend to have light tan or even
green skin. Their hair is usually light brown, tan, or even golden. There eyes are most commonly golden, but
green is not unknown, nor is sky blue. Silver eyes are very rare among them.
(elven traits as in the players handbook, except the following)
* +2 Dex  -2 Int
*+2 Knowlege (nature) as well as +2 to listen, spot, and search.
*they excel at riding and receive at +4 to it. They are also very good at attacking from the saddle and
receive a +2 to hit when doing so. This bonus stacks with any feats or other ablity they might have picked
up.
*Like there cousins, they too are profecient in the use of the longsword.
* With the scarcity of trees in much of the area they reside in, the Granon have taken to using thrown
weapons they can be reused.  They are trained in the use of spears and javelins at an early age and receive
a +2 when using them.
*The are also able to cast the spell Know Direction one time per day for every 2 character levels

Silnon(Elves of the Forest)
The Silnon settled the deep woods and forests of Philenos. They are extremely dexterious from there life in
the trees. They are not as hardy as there cousins the Granon and the Monon, and there solitary nature leads
others to see them as withdrawn.   It is also said about them, they if they don't want you to follow them, you
won't be able to.  They live in a multitude of different sizes of communites, but all of there towns and cities
have one thing in common, they are always in the tops of the trees of the great forest.

Phyically, they resemble the forests in which they live. There skins is normally a shade of brown, ranging
from light to dark and in some cases, even reddish. There hair is generaly the colors of the leaves of the
trees in which they reside, any shade of green, or in some cases, brown.  There eyes are most commonly a
shade of green as well, but gold, brown are not uncommon. Blue and silver eyes are very rare for them.
(elven traits as in the players handbook, except the following)
* +4Dex, -2 Con, -2Chr
*+2 Knowledge(Nature), as well as a +2 to listen, search, spot, and survival.
* Life in the trees has taught them to be excelent climbers, they receive a +2 to all climbing and a +4 when
in the woods.
*The are also able to cast the spell Know Direction one time per day for every 2 character levels as well as
Pass without trace once per day.
Halfings
The following types of Halflings Elves can be found on Philenos: All traits are as those listed in the PHB
and MM.

Lightfoot Halfing

Tallfellow Halflings

Deep Halflings
Half Breeds

Half Elves, Half Orc, and on Rare occasions, Half Dwarves, can be found throughout Philenos. Shunned
by some societies, and embraced by others, the Half Elves and Half Orc traits are the same as those listed
in the PHB.

Half Dwarf stats will eventually be posted here.
Others and Special Situations

As a majority of the underworld of Philenos is not currently at war with the surface, Goblins, Orcs, and
other normally underworld intelligent denizens can be found wandering the surface of Philenos. Many cities
and towns have taken the opinion that although they can not be trusted, there gold is still good, so they are
tolerated in most of Philenos. The appearance of the Children of the Light has went a long way to show
people that not all of these underworld races are evil.

There are rumors of a race that is a cross between a unicorn and an elf that have been seen on the
Frontiers of Kryst, stats soon to appear here, pending permission of the creator.

Special note on Gnomes, no Gnomes have been spotted on Philenos since The Arrival of the standard
Character races thousands of years ago.  Ocasionally travelers claim to have spotted one of these elusive
creatures, but most assume the are nothing more then legend.  If you are interested in playing a gnome in
one of my campaigns, or you are a DM and want to use Philenos and want to know more about this issue,
email me at frobizdarkmage@lycos.com and I will be happy to let you know what is going on.
