Notes

19/03/05 - I didn't get very much sleep again the night before, but I managed about 4 hours. Time was going on and I decided to jump on the bike, but my knee was annoying me during the week and I decided to go to the doctor later this week, probably on Tuesday. I've been before about it, but the doctor who checked it out, not the smartest guy around, just said it was a cartilage injury and to take painkillers when it starting hurting. Great advice, doc. Anyway, I went on the bike today and decided to only go for 10 minutes. Instead of going slow and then speeding up every once in a while, I started slow, then speeded up and kept a steady pace for 10 minutes. Ended up doing 3.51km in 10 minutes, which equates to 7.02km in 20 minutes, the most I've done. A pretty good session, but my knee started hurting about 30 minutes later.

12/03/05 - I was working on a roster project for MVP 2005 this week and I had done an all-nighter the night before, so I wasn't really up to doing it. My knee was starting to bark a little as well, so I ended up falling asleep instead.

05/03/05 - Back up to par this week. I think I would have made the 7km again, but I had to run all out for 5 minutes an hour earlier, so that probably took a little out of me. Started off slow on no more than a slow jog, barely even that, then I picked up after 2 minutes. I then started setting myself mini-goals to work out a bare minimum of 5km in 15 minutes. I figured that at 5 minutes I must have run at least 1.5km, then when I beat that by about 10 seconds, I set another few along the way. I had made 3.60 in 10 minutes and that worked out to 7.20 over 20, but I fell off a little toward the end, despite feeling like I was running as hard as I could. A glance down at the pedals told me I wasn't working as hard as my brain was telling me I was, but I couldn't do anything about it. I'm pretty happy with 6.93km, though. Also, my weight is down to 11 stones 11 pounds (165lbs) before my run, so I'm doing something right. I should probably start tracking my weight, too.

26/02/05 - Not so good this time around, and I don't know why. I just couldn't seem to get going. I tried to have some flurries of action like I had done my last 2 times, but I wasn't able to keep going for as long before reverting back to a fast jog. I knew I hadn't worked as hard and I wasn't as tired after it, but I was slightly disappointed that I went downhill. Oh well, we'll see how it goes next week.

12/02/05 - Second time. My first uninterrupted session and my throat started drying up and becoming sore at the 10 minute mark. I ignored it and finished my 20 minute session I had programmed. When I got off though, I noticed my right knee, which I have a cartilage injury in, seemed to be struggling and would hardly support any weight. I was wobbly legged for a minute or two, but after that, I was fine. Until I woke up on Monday the 14th and both my legs were killing me! The left leg was fine by Wednesday, but the right one didn't stop being sore until the Friday night (18th). Just as well I avoided it on the 19th!

05/02/05 - First time on the running machine. Since I hadn't been on a bike since I was 6, I was expecting to fall off pretty quickly, but it actually went pretty well. Apart from the screws and stuff falling off randomly and having to stop until we found them again. Once I got going though, it was OK.

  R.I.P. M.S.A. - Never forgotten.
