Suicide Fact #1 - one out of every three teenagers have thought about committing suicide. Fact #2 - Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens. Fact #3 - Christians commit suicide too - we are not immune. Some reasons why teens consider taking their lives are things like pressure from parents about school, parents' divorce, abuse in any form, loneliness, depression, etc. No matter the reason and cause, suicide is not a joke... a lonely person, depressed and abandoned made to feel like they would be better off dead... it's so sad and upsetting - and very real. The Bible says in Colossians 1:16-17 that God created everything and that He is the ultimate sustainer of life. Psalm 139:13-16 comforts us by telling us of God's love for us - even before we were born! See, God loves you enough to number your days here on earth and to know everything about you even in your mother's womb! God has set a limited number of days for each of us. (Job 14:5) But until the day we die, we are to glorify God and lead other people to Him. If you no someone who is thinking about suicide, don't ignore the problem! Talk to that person and try to figure out what is bothering them. Listen more than you talk so that they know you care. Don't judge or argue. Get help for them! Or maybe you are thinking about suicide. If thoughts of killing yourself run through your mind constantly, get help. Talk to a trusted adult or youth leader. Help is available! Hang in there and don't lose hope! If you have any questions or any comment to make on this topic, feel free to email us at contact@girlschoices.every1.net. |
Verse of the week: "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will be faithful to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." ~Philipians 1:6
