Wayside Shrines
Behind my eyes there are a thousand
images of the woman I wish to be.
Smouldering in my heart there are a
thousand memories of the girls I have been.
I know the place I joined this road,
I know the place to which I must walk
(however far with calloused heels).
I do not know where I am.
This is a road that can have no
signs,
only wayside shrines.
I crawl or run to the open
sanctuaries,
to reflect - to simply Be - to lay
my burden down
for just a little while, and gaze
along the Dusty Road to the
places I have been. Sometimes,
sometimes I dare to glimpse the
horizon ahead
and imagine the places to which I am
going.
Invariably I stumble onwards blindly
toward a shimmering oasis
and find nothing; nothing but rocks.
Rocks are solid truths, lessons
learned, but rocks are not water.
I must drown in the water of Truth
and drink the answers.
I must not imagine. I must walk on.
Imagination is limiting.
It is limiting and we seek that
which is unlimited.
We must seize imagination to take us
to the roads end,
to take us to the shore, then swim.
We must swim to the other side of
imagination,
taking all our courage into the
unknown.
Only then will we be truly receptive
to the wonders beyond;
to the answers, to Ourselves.
(Not our images, but ourselves. )
Imagination leads to disappointment,
Truth is beyond imagination.
I stand in a place I dared not
imagine,
I walk without crutches,
held by His Invisible Hands.
In our lives there are many
metaphorical crutches
and many ways with which to limp.
I stand in a place I dared not
imagine and
I am not disappointed.
I am an earthen vessel, on an
unmarked road
carrying nineteen years of foolish
wisdom
and a parcel of hope. ((Guide me Lord.))by Tash ~UK |
