West Indies
We visited Barbados in July 2000 and had a most enjoyable holiday. The beach was Jenny's greatest enjoyment whilst I enjoyed the cricket.  The local team are known as Piton Dover Cricket Club and it was a pleasure to see them play.
Below are some photos of that holiday.
A general view of the statue of Admiral Lord Nelson.  We have often seen his London statue which towers over Trafalgar Square.   I had known of this Bardados statue from my stamp collecting days as it is featured on the 4 cent 1953 definitive set.
We made no less than 32 bus journeys including some to Speighton where we met a young lady fishing from the pier.
We went to the Crop Over Festival in Queens Park Bridgetown on 15th July.   This revived festival commemotates the gathering in of the sugar cane crop.  Below is a photo of Jenny with the King and Queen of the festival.   We also had a meal cooked at the park, chicken jerk   We learned that the meat is left to dry in the sun.   We hope it was protected from flies and any passing dogs!

Barbados
We made another trip to the island in July 2004 and have added some photographs.
Barbados has fine beaches and here is a picture taken of Worthing Beach.  I enjoy watching cricket.  This is Dover Cricket Club. The sea behind makes a magnificent setting.
Eating out at Oistins on a Friday evening is enjoyable.  Marcia cooks superb meals.  She also attended Crop Over in Harrison College and we purchased food from her there.   Snow cones are very refreshing and colourful. This fish lady told us she is 93 years old and since she was 15 she has bought fish daily to sell in her village.  We were pleased to post her a framed copy of this photo.
