West Somerset Railway. Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. |
Here are some pictures taken of West Somerset Railway. This extends to nearly 20 miles and is the longest private railway in the UK. I had the pleasure of attending a steam engine driving course in early 1999 and my first drive of a steam engine took place on 12th April 1999 when I drove 4-6-0 Odney Manor from Minehead to Blue Anchor and acted as fireman on the return journey. I show the extract from the gaurds journal. I also show an engine crossing the level crossing at Blue Anchor, Jenny with Arnie with Odney Manor behind, and a double headed up train waiting for the down. Also two photos taken during the Christmas to New Year 2000 service when we had some snow. The 12.25pm down train waits, on 30th December, in Bishop's Lydeard station. The trains were running late due to icy conditions. Lastly a picture of the Jubilee floral tribute at Crowcombe Heathfield station. |
