We all have some women that we admire... it's probably your mom, grandma, a favorite aunt or it could be a special teacher who inspired you once! March has
been chosen as the month to honor great women in history.

The picture shows Florence Nightingale. She was a nurse who
lived in Britain a long time ago.
Granni found a wonderful
website with biographies about famous women. They were ALL
written by children. You can go to the
Children's Encyclopedia
of Women
to learn about Florence Nightingale and many other
famous women. These children also have  a list of important
dates in Women's History.

You can find more about women at this website all about
Women's History Month.

March word:  greenhorn

green-horn (pronounced just like it looks!
An inexperienced or immature person, especially one who is easily deceived.
A newcomer, especially one who is unfamiliar with the ways of a place or group.

Thanks to dictionary.com for this definition. Go to the online dictionary to subscribe to a new definition every day - in your e-mail!
When it comes to cooking, Johnny is a greenhorn. He is just learning how to make toast. Mary wants to make her own website, but she's still a greenhorn, so she is  going to join MaMaMedia and create her website there!

Cowboys called the young bulls that were just starting to grow their horns "
greenhorns". From there the word spread to calling a person who is just starting to learn something new a greenhorn.
