Word of the month:  meteorology
     "mee-tee-or-ah-luh-gee"

n 1: predicting what the weather will be [syn: weather forecasting, weather forecast] 2: science dealing with phenomena of the atmosphere; especially weather processes and weather forecasting
Definition from:  dictionary.com
We are all familiar with the weatherperson on TV. That person got his or her job by studying meteorology in college. Sometimes the TV meteorologist (weather reporter) visits local schools and tells kids about meteorology.

Many other people use
meteorology too. For instance, some people have jobs  forecasting earthquakes, hurricanes and  other natural weather catastrophes. Some people use meteorology to look for tornadoes when we have stormy weather. Many lives are saved during bad weather by those people who studied meteorology. Alex is even using HTML to make her site more interesting.

My neopet is a green Quiggle. No two neopets can have the same name. I named mine Duoclopsette. She's a happy pet as you can see in her picture. After you become a member you can put in the name of your friends that are neopet members. If you want to test it, my Neopet member name is granni39. I will answer any neomail I get at my Neopet mailbox

Don't forget to change your clocks before you go to bed on April 6 so you won't be late anywhere on Sunday morning. Here's a little reminder: "Spring forward, fall back."
April 24 - Be extra nice to secretaries that you know on this day, especially your school secretary. Secretaries do a lot of things to keep the office running smoothly.
Earth Day and Arbor Day both have their foundation from similar roots. The U.S. Embassy in Sweden has the best unbiased explanation granni could find on the internet. Very interesting! Here is a list of more interesting sites:

Ranger Rick provided lots of fun for granni39's two oldest grandsons when they were younger and I KNOW that you will have lots of fun with Ranger Rick, too! Just click on the Ranger Rick logo!

Another fun place has GOT to be the
San Diego National History Museum. Granni never visited there (it's too far away from where she lives), but they have a great site on the internet for people near and far! Click on the "Kids' Habitat" logo to get to that site!

Do you know a Secretary or an Administrative Professional? Sure you do! Your school has at least one person who gets all the office work organized and taken care of. There is a special week set aside to honor these people. Administrative Professionals Week - formerly called Professional Secretaries Week, is the last full week in April.

Granni39 is a "Certified Professional Secretary" - which means I studied for and passed a series of exams about all kinds of stuff relating to the business world. It was a tough series of exams but it's SO rewarding when you pass the exams and earn the certification!

It was all started in 1952 by the National Secretaries Association (International) President Mary Barrett and C. King Woodbridge, President of Dictaphone Corporation. There was a national shortage of skilled office workers so they wanted to show how important those jobs were. The first Secretaries week was June 1 through June 7, 1952, with Wednesday, June 4, as Secretaries Day. The celebration week and day were later changed to April.

In 1981 the word "Professional" was added to the name of the week, then in 2000 the organization changed their name to International Association of Administrative Professionals and the name of the week changed again.
