SPACE : Space can symbolise several things that we associate with it. Space is literally out of this world and links to something we cannot imagine(E.g. "I cannot ever imagine being homeless"). It is also endless and so can link to a feeling like that such as "there is no limits to my anger".

KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially of the day before the dream) :
- "I just do not have anything to compare it to - I cannot imagine what it will be like"
- "Its just the fear of the unknown"
- "there are no limits to this feeling inside me"
- "day dreaming"
- "what planet does he live on!"

METEOR : Meteors are solid matter and in dreams they link to the facts about your life. Meteors then will link to sudden changes in your thoughts and perceptions. Think of situations where you "find out the truth", or "suddenly realise the truth" or situations in which "the truth about your life has changed as some new facts have emerged"

KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially of the day before the dream) :
- "it very nearly happened yesterday"
- "he found out"
- "I did not realise at first"
- "my life will change radically soon"
- "and then the truth struck me"

ALIENS : Aliens tend to link to thoughts and feelings which are totally unfamiliar. You maybe about to enter a strange new world - maybe a new job or social situation. Also people maybe behaving in ways that are totally alien to your way of thinking.

KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially of the day before the dream) :
- "its coming from outside"
- "what on earth is that!"
- "picking up some bad new habits"
- "Its so unlike anything I have ever experienced before"
- "I simply cannot imagine what it will be like"
- "I simply cannot imagine what is going to happen"

DREAM STUDIES : Real dreams with space in them
-----------------

THE DREAM I dreamt I was on a spaceship with lots of humans on board with different level/floors but the levels were visible from any floor. These people(I believe last specimens of human race) would die if they touched a window, bench , panel, or another infected person. The dream didn't show the cause of death (bacteria, virus etc.) but there was one floor or level which was safe , for the time being and there were heaps of people filling up this room fast. The glass sliding doors were slowly closing together and I and a couple of others just made it through. This section was not affected by the virus however we were packed like sardines and I had an ominous feeling that something else was yet to unfold. This is when I woke up.

Immediately after this I fell asleep and dreamt I was doing housework (the dishes). I had 2 sparkling clean wine glasses in my hand when I noticed a figure in a nightie coming up the hallway. As it came closer to the kitchen it looked like my Mum and I was at first happy to see her though a little startled as she looked more like an apparition not a solid figure . I went to greet her and as I hugged her (did not feel her) she changed form from a short plump woman to a tall skinny wrinkly warted hag and she started cackling at me. I felt this woman's name was Pam, she seemed evil and I had the feeling she had killed my mother with a poisonous pill or that she was a friend who had betrayed her in some way. Either way the feeling I had was that my mother was dead.

THE REALITY The day before the dream the dreamer had been visiting his parents but came away upset that she had been treating him as a child. The dreamer was currently studying at college but was quite resentful at the pleas from his mother to "please study". The thought of a 42 year old man been told to study by his mother just "sends me off the deep. I felt suffocated and poisoned by their views of me to the point where I'm beating my head against a brick wall". In the dreamers eyes his mother died a long time ago along with his love and respect for her.

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I was at my parents yesterday. My mother told me to do my homework for my evening classes. I cannot believe that she thinks she can do that. I am in my thirties. Its so insulting. Its really poisoned my relationship with her"

THE INTERPRETATION Well with this dream its very safe to make an assumption straight away linking this to reality. The dreamer had a very annoying incident that was bugging his mind from the day before and it really was eating away at him. So the gut reaction is to immediately link some real life situation with the dreams. If an incident is big enough and annoying enough then you are most likely to dream about it. So how exactly does the dream link to the real life incident?

Space is a symbol which deals with an inability to understand something. In this case it links to the dreamers inability to understand how his mother feels that she is still able to tell her son that he needs to study.

People are often a symbol of standards that we feel that need to be met. They link to behavior in general and what is acceptable and unacceptable. In that case the space people are symbolic of the standards of behavior that the dreamers mother feels are acceptable.

A virus is something that is unseen yet it clearly causes havoc and poisons things. So in this case the dreamer has clearly been affected by the real life incident. The relationship with his mother has been further poisoned.

The sardines are a good and strong symbol which clearly express the dreamers real life emotions. He feels suffocated just as sardines in a tin. Possibly the dreamer was trying to hold back in showing these emotions - trying to contain himself from exploding.

The second dream is very similar in the emotions it expresses. Going upstairs in dreams often shows that you are starting to reach a new level of understanding. New thoughts are emerging and you are coming to some new conclusions.

The kitchen is where we feed our mind. They are often the home of experiences which have been affecting us. The food we eat is symbolic of experiences that have fed and engaged our minds. Cleaning pots is symbolic of thinking through experiences that have just happened.

Perhaps the apparition reveals a very specific thought. It shows that something is not quite real. It may link to the feelings that his mother is not alive any more. His feelings for her are dead and all that remains is her physical body.

The old hag is clearly symbolic of the negative way in which he sees his mother. She has transformed into this hideous woman.

Symbolic Meanings
DEAD : "start of a new phase - see things in a new way"
INFECT : "one thought being affected by another - stress and tension"
NAME : "being able to name what something is that you want - very specific wishes"
PEOPLE : "the dreamers thoughts about what is acceptable behavior"
POISON : "spoiling something pure - the dreamers relationship with his mother is poisoned"
SARDINE : "feeling stifled"
SPACESHIP : "Something out of this world -the dreamer cannot understand how his mother would think she could act in this way - its unbelievable"
--------------------------
DREAM TIP : Dreams are about pivotal moments in our emotions. They represent change. For instance you may suddenly decide that someone you know is not to be trusted. So on balance you have decided to alter your view.
----------------------
THE DREAM It was a star wars dream. We were having a war against the empire, which Anakin was leading (he already went to the dark side). I was helping lead my army. I kept going back and forth getting supplies between the two armies, which I could have been shot down at any moment, but they held their fire. Went I came back to my little office room, which had the leader of our army, and a few robots, which aimed at me when I came back in,I had to check in with all 4 of them. So I remember the war starting and everyone fighting, but Anakin just sat there watching. When it was all over a few minutes later (I don't know who won) Anakin went to back of something like a stage, and saw his mother on the floor, but she was a Twi'Lek (Those things with the 2 tentacles like things on their heads) . And someone said she was burnt and walked over here and fell writhing on the floor. (Gruesome thought, especially since my mind played it out for me in my dream -.-) She wad dead. He was very enraged, and went to a council meeting about something and then he went to this one planet. It was raining, and this girl kept asking him for food. The grass was very tall,so he lost her in it. He came to this dirt road, when a boy, younger then the girl, drove up and started asking him for some food. He ignored them, knowing they were brother and sister, and walked through a trail in the tall grass,to this little hut type thing. There were guards which he overthrew easily, and sat down in front of a guy, which I think was green and monsterish. Anyway the green guy started talking about how Anakin had to do something,if not this one kid would be killed,by being stretched to death. The thing concerned planets. Then Anakin said "Why must you do this to me?" and he put his head back against the wall. He seemed not to be as evil as he looked. (And no he did not look like Darth Vader)

THE REALITY The day before the dream the dreamer did not do much. She visited the zoo and with her friend and could not stop thinking about her crush.

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I cannot stop thinking about my crush right now. I am living in fantasy land"

THE INTERPRETATION Star wars is a harmless fantasy and may simply express this dreamers day dreaming. Space in dreams can link to our imaginations and the limitless expanse within them. So its an excellent symbol for an out of control imagination.

The dream also features food and food often links to things which feed our minds. This hunger in the dream symbolises a certain boredom within the dreamer and a need to do things which interest her.

Symbolic Meanings
HUNGER : "hungry for life"
MONSTER : "huge and out of control - her fantasies out of control"
ROBOT : "acting in an automated and unnatural way - her crush is manipulated in her fantasies to do what she wants"
SPACE : "the world of ideas - the dreamers own fantasy world"
------------------------------
DREAM TIP : The link between dreams and the day before is really very strong. That is no coincidence. During the day we store up thoughts in short term memory banks. Then at night we start to transfer these into long term memory banks and at the same time we start to integrate these into long term emotions. Then finally we clear short term memory banks ready for the day ahead. So dreams will tend to link to the day before and to ways in which we have been altering our thoughts and feelings.

THE DREAM - The starship enterprise (with everyone aboard) had broken into a million pieces and gotten glued back together. No one seemed terribly disturbed by this except me. Then I was on a planet and I was a mischievous little twerp plotting to kill people I didn't like. I and my cohorts killed 3 people. Then I went for a walk or something and met this lady I work with. She is a fat blonde and when I first met her she was very in control, her ideas were supreme and she was going to straighten me out. I had some experience in what she was straightening me out in and I thought I could do a fine job of it, and I thought she didn't know what she was getting into. I still think that. Anyway, she chased me down trying to choke and kill me. It turned out to be in a school of some sort. In the end I was hiding in a classroom and she found me and dragged me out in front of the principle. I felt all lame and captured.

THE REALITY The dreamer got into a fight the day before and realised that she would probably dream about it. She had got into some disagreement with a guy on the Internet. She told him that his ideas sucked. The guy was not particularly emotionally stable and took exception to this.

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I had a blazing row with someone on the Internet yesterday and knew that I would dream about it. He was so annoying. "

THE INTERPRETATION The most obvious connection to the real life argument is the killing and violence. The little twerp is a mood she obviously recognised as the foul temper that she was sent into. She knew that getting so wound up was not going to do her any good.

The violence takes place on another planet. Its all in space. Maybe showing that the guy exists in his own little world. He is not going to engage in serious debate. Often space symbolises an entirely different way of thinking. It may symbolise how she cannot possibly begin to understand the way the person she got into the argument with - or alternatively that she cannot possibly get through to him and persuade him of her way of thinking.

Notice she also kills three men on the planet. Three is often a synonym for FREE - so perhaps this is linking to the fact that she should have let the boy freely state his opinion and just get on with things. That she should let people voice there opinions freely.

Well the most obvious symbol in this dream was a very personal one. The lady she's knew from work who has a tendency to straighten her out. Dreams concentrate not so much on issues of right versus wrong. The conscious mind is the home of rational thought and is quite capable of seeing things rationally. The dream was about the dreamers response. The issue was one of her own mental well being. She did not need to get into this argument. The person was emotionally unstable and its never going to get her anywhere getting into such arguments.

Choking is symbolic of an experience which the dreamer finds difficult to accept. That certainly fitted the emotional mood she ended up in. She was unable to accept the situation - constantly working through feelings of injustice.

Symbolic Meanings
3 : "pun - issue which you have freedom to choose and show your freewill - she can choose to show restraint and not get carried away in arguments"
DRAG : "forced along a certain way of thinking - the dreamer allowed herself to get dragged into an argument"
PLANET : "living on a different planet - the guy she argued with was living on a different planet"
SCHOOL : "learning something about yourself and how to react in life"
--------------------------------------
THE DREAM - I dreamt that I was with a woman I know(Misha). She was describing something. Suddenly we took off and she was showing me outer space. We were going up in some sort of satellite and looking at space. She said that we just do not know what happens out here.

THE REALITY The dreamer did not see a woman he knew the day before. He heard that she was off sick and suffering from depression. She had appeared OK the day before so this just did not make any sense. The dream represented his attempts to comprehend why this woman was suffering depression.(As a footnote the dreamer actually had misheard that she was suffering from depression. )

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I found out that Misha was off work yesterday. She runs a homeless shelter and I overheard someone say she was off sick due to depression. Then I was trying to imagine what could cause her to have depression. Then I was thinking about the weather and how the bad weather may have got her down. Having to deal with so many homeless people and not been able to do anything to help them with all this rain about."

THE INTERPRETATION This woman runs a homeless shelter and the day before the dream she was happy and joking - in fact in the best of spirits. The next day the dreamer found out that she was off sick. He misheard in a cafe that she was suffering from depression.

This had an effect on him. He could not understand why someone could be so happy the day before and then suffering from depression the next day. The dream then represented his thoughts in trying to work out why she was so depressed.

Overall the dreamer was thinking empathetically. Trying to see what could have led this lady who works with the homeless get so depressed so quickly. The previous nights weather was very bad. It was a very rough night for homeless people with treacherous winds. The dreamer thought that the lady must have felt a despair. She was powerless to act. People were out there really suffering. Yet she was powerless - and it was this that must have led to the ladies depression.

Outer space often refers to a vast unknown world that we cannot comprehend. So in this dream the space refers to the inability to really know what it is like to be homeless - especially during a storm. Its a whole different world that we cannot comprehend.

So the dream represented the dreamer trying to work out the cause of this ladies depression. And that cause was the inability to understand just how it feels like to be living rough on a night with rough storms.

This was a dream that existed only in the dreamers head. He simply misheard the reason why the lady was off sick. But feelings are real even if the reality they are based on does not exist. In fact our emotions are constantly based on irrational and false information. We form opinions on the knowledge that we have.

Symbolic Meanings
SPACE : "unable to imagine just what something could be like - just unable to imagine how Misha could have depression "
SPACE : "unable to imagine just what something could be like - unable to imagine what its like to be homeless "

THE DREAM My wife, a stranger and myself were in a house, (we do not currently live in this house) and while my wife and this man were talking I felt compelled to go outside. It was like a premonition of some sort of danger, only not dangerous. So I leave the conversation and walk out the front door.

The house is a single story rancher style, with red and brown brick and dark stained trim and door. The front yard contains a large shade tree, but its leaves are gone and litter the ground in a maze of golden shadows and shapes. Its dark as the sun had just set, but the rim of light is hidden behind the house.

As I look up I notice the brilliance of the stars. The seemed to glow more brightly and the thought crossed my mind that its different in the south and because of it I could see them better. Its always an amazing thing to me when I consider the wonders of the universe and this night was no different only I could not remember a night when I saw them any brighter.

As I looked I noticed what appeared to be two pulsars, one red and one purple. The shimmered in the night sky and seemed very close to the earth. Then I notice they were getting bigger. Their progress was slow at the start, but increased in speed the closer they got to earth. I called my wife and this stranger out to watch and on cue they too came running out already looking at the sky. Although I had my arm fully extended to the sky and was pointing at the two objects that looked like stars, they never noticed me and came out of the house looking toward the heavens.

Right as they cleared the awning the two objects bursts into flames, but kept moving toward earth at a rate now that was very fast. I started to think that they were asteroids that were preparing to implode on all of us, but I knew it was more. As I stood watching a fear started to well within me.

Then as suddenly as they burst into flame, the flame went out and there now appeared two disk shaped ships. The one on the right had an outer ring that glowed purple with two small circles within the outer circle that also glowed. The one on the left was exactly like the right only it glowed red. The colors were bright and elegant and they filled the night around us with an eerie glow.

We decided to go back into the house as the objects came within clear view and understood that these objects, ships were not from our planet. They passed over our head not more then 500' above us as we all turned and moved toward the door of the house.

We all headed toward the dinning room which had a large plate glass window that gave us a clear view of the night sky. We stood quietly watching as the shroud around the earth peeled away and the stars started to move. Right at this point the earth was jolted greatly. Small figurines that were on the many book cases and shelves fell, crashing on the floor in a shattering of glass and porcelain. But we never really paid attention. Our eyes were focused on the sky where we started seeing clearer images of the planets. Jupiter was the largest of the planets that came close to earth, was appeared to be the size of the moon. Its rings and moons were also very visible as the earth sped by.

It was not until we left our galaxy that we stopped looking and turned to face each other in fear and wonder. Of course we had many questions about what was happening and more importantly what was going to happen to us and our planet when we stopped, or if we stopped. At some point a large ship, almost the the size of the earth itself moved in front of our view only allowing us a very brief glimpse of the sky to the very edge and then very slowly sailed north and out of view.

There were many problems during the time that we were pulled to some unknown destination, if that was what they were doing, and the biggest of all problems was the stranger who was with us. We all stayed within the house fearing to leave the comfort of security it provided and never considered even opening the door or trying to escape.

The stranger was a panicky man and held more fear then my wife and I. After several days of this happening he became increasingly more panicked and before he did anything stupid I decided to make sure he would behave. I picked up a bat and hit him on the head, but only enough to knock him out.

At the point that we started slow down our anxiety grew. We feared this ability to move a planet and we also feared the race that was capable of such great powers.

THE REALITY The day before this dream had been a very difficult day for this dreamer. The dreamer is in bad health and feels this is deteriorating badly. That day he forgotten his medications and had to get emergency medications from his doctor to avoid getting a seizure. He was carrying groceries for his large family and this was a major strain. Trying to find ways to adapt to the seizures is not easy.

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "Yesterday was a real scare for me. I forgot my medications and had to get some emergency replacements from my doctor. It was not just the immediate scare as the incident brought to life my very real fears about my deteriorating health. So far I am coping but in the future I fear my health will change my life in ways I cannot even imagine".

THE INTERPRETATION Dreams often will be linked to exact events and emotions that we feel in real life. The day before this dream was dominated by a health scare. So its fair to say that this dream is about that.

Dreams will often capture our emotions from the previous day as they develop during a situation. Thats possibly the case here. The asteroid is clearly linked to the impending doom as he fears he will have a seizure. The dreamer is caught in a situation and watching it develop. The dream captures his emotions such as the feeling of panic(represented by the panicking man). The dreamer also mentions the questions that he wants to ask. Thats virtually taking his exact feelings from the day.

Later on the dream features aliens and spaceships. This all captures his feelings as well. Aliens symbolise strange and unknown feelings that we simply cannot imagine. That links to the dreamers thoughts about his own health. He feels his health is deteriorating and soon strange and alien circumstances may take over his life in the form of health problems which totally reshape his life.

Symbolic Meanings
ALIENS : "trying to imagine circumstances which are totally outside his experience of life. Change that he can just not imagine"
ASTEROID : "a very real fear - the dreamers feelings of impending doom as he is caught without his medications"
HOUSE : "the dreamers own body and personality "
PANICKING MAN : "the panicked circumstances the dreamer is caught in trying to get replacement medications"
-----------------------------
DREAM TIP : Try to think of dream symbols as words or phrases. Think of space in dreams as representing the phrases "unable to imagine" or "out of this world". Now write down several quotes which capture new feelings on important issues in your life. Also write down quotes which capture your feelings about what happened yesterday. Think of quotes such as "I feel my foot is getting worse. I just worry where it will all end",or "My friend seems to be in a funny mood right now",or "I have been feeling strange today. Not quite able to get into the swing of things". Now look at those quotes again and see where the phrase "unable to imagine" could have any relevance whatsoever. If there appears to be a connection then try the same process with other symbols.
-----------------------------
THE DREAM I see this body lying in bed and its eyes open. It looks like an alien. As I wake up I feel this reassuring feeling that its everything is OK.

THE REALITY The dreamer woke up from this dream and his next door neighbour was coughing very loudly. She suffers from some asthma related illness.

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I woke up in the middle of the night. It was because of some noise. I realised immediately it was my next door neighbour coughing very loudly as she has some kind of lung problem."

THE INTERPRETATION Dreams will often be about issues in our emotional and day to day lives. But if something is actually happening at the time of the dream whilst we are sleeping then our dream tends to link to those events. So if there is some noise in the background that may be incorporated into the dream or even take the dream over. Whilst asleep we need to sense what is happening in order to detect danger. Anything might be happening and we maybe the victims of fire or burglary.

In this case the alien symbolises that some noise was coming from an alien source. That is using alien in the sense that it is outside. The dream also captures this sense that things are OK. The dreamers neighbour often had breathing difficulties and woke up coughing loudly. So maybe the dreamer was sensing that the noise came from next door and there was no immediate threat to his danger.

Symbolic Meanings
ALIEN : "some external event - in this case a noise from outside"
FEELING OF SAFETY : "the dreamer senses that the noise is connected with a source that will not cause any danger to the dreamers life"
