On the Tuesday the 29th of June this year, JK Rowling has confirmed on her website that the title of the 6th book in the Harry Potter series will be called Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
The title was deemed a possibility after it was discovered behind the door that had the Do Not Disturb sign on it on JK's official site. When this door is opened, you are faced with a brick wall. If you click certain bricks in a certain sequence, a piece of paper with this title on it will be revealed. When fans discovered how to get behind this brick wall the title was only a possibility, but now Ms. Rowling has confirmed it in the New section of her site.
However, fans were first off confused if this title was real or not. This was because the same day as the door was opened, someone who was later found out to be a hoaxed claimed that the title of Book 6 was 'Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storge' (Storge is a Greek word meaning 'parental love'). JK Rowling heard of this and set people sraight, and announced the proper title. In the News section she also says that "'Pillar of Storge' was never my title", which further helped to clear things up.
