~A Special Message~

January 5, 1999

As the day for my surgery draws near, my "butterflies" are getting bigger! And my thoughts seem to keep moving ahead to that day.

But today as I spent time in prayer and reading The Word, I found great comfort. And I wanted to share this with someone else who may be facing a frightening challenge ahead.

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak"
Isaiah 40:29

"For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones. They will be protected forever..."  Psalm 37:28

My strength WILL come from Him. I could not do it on my own. He has promised never to forsake me. Or you.

"For I am the Lord YOUR God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you"      Isaiah 41:13

Not only is He the God that created the universe and the God of every believer on earth... but He is MY own personal Savior! What more do I need to take into the operating room with me?

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble"
Psalm 46:1

"The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their stronghold in time of trouble"   Psalm 37:39

"Peace I leave with you;  my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid"     John 14:27

I DO feel His peace about this surgery. I don't know the outcome.
But I believe with all my heart, that whatever lies ahead, He will give me the grace to get through it.

Now, I want to Thank each of you who I know
will be praying for me. Some of you ladies
(and gentlemen) are tremendous
"prayer warriors"
NEVER underestimate the importance of that ministry!
Don't just pray for me!
Pray for each doctor and nurse that will be in the operating room with me. Pray for each nurse that will be in charge of my care.
Pray for my family, as they wait in the waiting rooms.
Pray for my children, that this will not be too stressful for them.
And most importantly, pray that the Lord will use me while
I am there to share His light with someone.
I want to Thank each of you for sharing your lives with me.
My life is made up of little pieces of each of you.
Your giving hearts.... Your unconditional friendships
Thank you for shining Jesus' light to guide my way
I love you all...       dw
