A properly socialized dog will make a better companion, than one who is not socialized. An unsocialized dog may have an unstable temperament, which often leads to fear biting. You should start socializing your puppy as soon as you get it. You should make sure that the socializing process is non-threatening and pleasant for the puppy. If the puppy is frightened you could be creating a phobia that will last through out your puppy's life. When socializing your puppy you should invite friends over, you should include men women, young children, and older people, you should include different ethnicities as well. This will ensure that your puppy meets all kinds of people. The next step would be to take your puppy around other animals. If your puppy has not been vaccinated make sure you only take them around vaccinated animals. Take the puppy around dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, and any other animals that are common in your area. Your puppy should be taken in all kinds of different places as well. Your puppy should go to shopping centers, and any other places where there are crowds of people, and activity. Introduce your puppy to the vacuum  cleaner, boxes, umbrelles, and any other objects you have lying around. This all may seem silly at first but the more things you intriduce your puppy to, the more socialized it will become. Your puppy should be introduced to many loud, and obnoxious sounds as well.
