i'm glad that somebody is keeping up in the music scene, without ryan's help i'd miss out on all the good things... radiohead's new album comes out on june 9th!  as for the deftones... lets hope they set a release date soon.  i'm also waiting to hear from good ol' zack de la rocha and when he plans on releasing an album, travis as well.  erin did it, ryan does it from time to time, why not me...

top five albums i've been listening to lately (the past two weeks):
1.
death cab for cutie:  you can play these songs with chords
2. death cab for cutie:  something about airplanes
3. system of a down:  steal this album
4. weezer:  maladroit
5. tenacious d
the last spot there was a fight between tenacious d and system of a down's toxicity.  surprisingly zwan isn't on the list, i guess i just haven't been in the mood for it lately.

i've been listening to
death cab for cutie so much i think they have become my most favourite band.  but of course that doesn't mean that they are my most favourite band of all time, just for the time being or possibly for the year.  on you can play these songs with chords there are only a few songs that i do not like.  i absolutely detest track 13, flustered/hey tomcat, because its not even music, i don't know exactly what they hoped to accomplish by putting that piece of rubbish on the album.  and as for the best new material on that album i'd have to with track 12, tomorrow.  its a pretty up beat (and sort of catchy) song despite the lyrics.  when i first got this album i was pretty disappointed because i think i had expected more, but after giving it a few listens i thought that it was pretty good, and after a lot of listens i now think that their most recent album is as good as something about airplanes, which i think is their best album.  and as long as we are talking about death cab i should also mention that i think all-time quarterback! is also really good.  i've probably written about this before though.

on tuesday night i saw the ring.  i didn't sleep.  i pretty much listened to music all night because if i didn't then i'd keep thinking about the movie.  i also unplugged the tv thats in my room... stupid movie...

on monday night the hampton hammer guy struck again but the victim managed to get away unharmed.  the third and most recent
attack happend two blocks east of my house.  everyone seems to be really spooked about it.  and seeing how i always seem to get home around midnight i have felt the effects of it as well.  last night i rode my bike back to my house and got there a quarter past midnight, i took my bike down the side of the house around to the garden and when i got back there i just kind of threw my bike back there unlocked and went back around to the front door to get inside.  i think what i was thinking right before i threw my bike back there was... 'screw this.'  but after having seen the ring i don't really feel safe anywhere.  on monday night andreas scared the ba-jesus out of me when he jumped out of my closet in my room.  but i think the effects of the ring have worn off a little because i actually slept well last night.

also a quick correction... sinead is from just outside belfast.  i guess her story in the previous entry makes more sense that way.

thursday night i hung out with andreas (my flatmate), two irish professors, sinead (an irish studies student with a really strong irish accent).  it was all pretty amusing.  sinead said that when she was growing up in the republic (of ireland) that she and her friends used to throw rocks at the orange men (protestants) and then wave the tri coloured flag... i thought it was halarious because i can just see her doing it.  i guess you'd have to know her light hearted personality to see what i mean.  they were all pretty cool.  i think if i stay here next fall i'm gonna take a module on the troubles because it be nice would be nice to hear about it first hand rather than reading about it in books.

yestermorning i went out to effingham to play paintball with a few americans.  it was pretty fun.  there were countless other people there and everyone got put onto teams of 20 to 30 people and then they would make you do little missions against the opposing team.  i think i got some good shots off.  the bullets and gear came out to about £24 a piece and the train there and back was about £6, not bad me thinks.  after dinner in the ref i went home and was beat, i was struggling to stay awake at eight but managed to not go to bed until half ten.  i slept for fourteen hours.

today i went out to covent garden by myself just to check out the market and hang out.  its my favourite place in london i'd say.  mike had been in camden market in the early afternoon and i met him out there.  we checked out the market and got coffee (mike) and tea (you can't deny the earl grey, milk and three sugars).  mcdonalds for dinner because i was late for dinner in the refactory.  i guess thats not all that bad though because really, how good could it have been in the ref?

my brain feels numb.  i've felt like i haven't been able to think lately.  i think because i'm starting to get crappy uninteresting geography classes... it could just be the teachers though.  maybe i should major in history instead, something i don't seem to get bored with.  or maybe even an irish studies minor?

i started using my new mobile earlier this week so replace the old number with 0773 222 5267.

yesterday i went to oxford street with ian and aidan.  in the topshop a modeling scout talked to ian and gave him a business card or something for auditions.  i think the whole incident has gone to his head so aidan and i took a continuous piss at him the whole train ride home, that is on top of the crap he gets for constantly fixing his hair.  but its all fun and games until i get hammered late one night...  i guess that brings me to my next topic.  people seem to be really scared walking the streets at night now a days.  last night i noticed that when i was walking towards people walking in the opposite direction that they would go out of their way to cross the street just so they won't have to walk past me, i mean its not just me, it happens to other people too.  talk about paranoid.  'why on earth are we here?  surely not to live in pain or fear.'  we can live in fear.  terrorist and guys with hammers shouldn't alter our lifestyles unless you can actually see them and they are a direct danger to you or others.  i'm sure there are certain exceptions to that rule, but you get what i mean yeah?

uni started back up this week and my classes fall on two days, one class on tuesday and three classes on thursday.  its a pretty relaxed class schedule except that i have two third level classes (which is the highest level) and all of my modules seem like they are more demanding this semester.  its still only the first week so we'll see about that.
monday, feb 18th
stop looking at me zwan... come on, it had to be said at some point, i'm just sorry that i had to say it first.  zwan: mary star of the sea is pretty good i think.  the first few tracks get a little repetative but the rest of it is pretty good but mellow.  i also recently got weezer: maladroit which is also pretty good.  of course its not as good as the blue and green albums but its pretty good.  a few tracks i could do without though like slob, but i think the songs dope nose, keep fishing, and slave make up for the not so good songs on this album.  i also got a supergrass album and it has been a complete disappointment, i guess i should listen to the whole album but the tracks that i listened to weren't all that impressive.  it sounds like a band that has gotten stuck in the early eighties.  the dcfc: you can play these songs with chords album is growing on me.

not much else is new.  my english friend ian seems to have gotten into some trouble with the ladies.  he is cool guy with morals and values and such with respect towards the birds, last night he said "i've never had girls just throw themselves at me before, i don't know what to do..." its sort of funny in a way.  it looks like he is gonna stay low for a little bit and keep away from the ladies, which i think is a good idea.

happy presidents day everyone.  food in the ref still sucks.
