Tea is the first female character to be introduced on Yu-Gi-Oh. She has been a long-time friend and classmate to Yugi. Tea is actually a fairly good duel monsters player, as shown on the first and third episodes of Duelist Kingdom, when she was constantly beating Joey at the game.

The anime had shown Tea, Yugi, and Joey's friendship being formed differently from what had happened in the manga. In the manga, Yugi introduces Tea as his childhood friend. But in the anime, Tea doesn't seem to know Yugi before she met him at Burger World. She was working there illegally, since she was underage (in manga the school doesn't allow its students working outside jobs). When Tea saw Yugi and Joey at Burger World, she was afraid that the two will tells others that she is working underage (or illegally), bring trouble. She initially treated the two horribly, drowning their burgers in ketchup. But when she find out Yugi and Joey is very encouraging of her dreams of becoming a dancer and going to New York, Tea grew more friendly.

Later at school she found a note telling her to meet Yugi at a empty warehouse, where she can use it as a dance studio. But when she got there, she met a robber instead. Yugi rushes in to save her, but got thrown to the side. Yami then came out and uses duel monster's cards to save the day. (in the manga, this doesn't happen as Yami actually saves Tea from a run away prisoner who threatened to kill her at Burger World. After Yami saves her, Tea fall in love with him, or rather with his voice).

Tea had followed Yugi on many adventures, starting from Duelist Kingdom all the way to Kaiba Grand Prix (Grand Championship). Some say she talks about friendship way too much, but I think she is just reminding us the importance of friendship and lack of it in today's society.
