The arrived at the
Grand Hotel safely. Max was grateful. He offered to help Heidis by
renting a room for her. But she said, “It’s okay, if you don’t
mind my staying in your room for just a few hours.”
Max said he didn’t
mind. They went up the elevator together. Suddenly, Heidis made a move.
Using the laser device, she shot the security camera and the glass
shattered to the ground in powder form. She pointed her device at Max,
“Tell me who you are and what you are doing!” she demanded,
“You’re not supposed to be on a taxi this early. They
should be checking your ID. What have you been doing? What is your
motive?”
Max raised his hands in the air, “My name is Max Tra Veller.
I’m a photographer.
I just came here two days ago and I don’t know
what’s going on. I really want someone to tell me.”
“No more lies,”
Heidis warned him, “Show me your room.”
The elevator arrived.
Max emerged, with the laser device still pointed to his head. He walked
to his door and with trembling hands, pulled out the keys and opened the
door. Heidis forced him to go inside and told him to switch on the
light. He turned his face to the wall and felt her closing up on him.
“It seems that you
didn’t know there’s been an incident going on in the PN Centre. They
claimed that a burglary had occurred, but no one knows what was stolen.
Everyone had their identification checked, but you. Did you steal
something?”
“Of course not!” Max denied.
“Then, where have
you been to get away from their checking?” Heidis demanded.
“I’ve been caught
in a surprise fight with an alien named Mohia.” He told her, “I
thought he was being unfair to a girl named Esonia Knight and so I spoke
up for her. However, we got into a battle. He said there’s a certain
Boss behind the extermination of Esonia.”
“Esonia Knight?”
Heidis could hardly believe what she was hearing, “She was here? No
wonder.” Then, she turned full force on Max, “You know her?”
“Not really.” Max replied, “I just happened to be caught in
the affair. Esonia dropped an
earring and I picked it up
for her. Mohia thought we were somehow related and he wanted to
exterminate me too. Really, I had nothing to do with this stuff, but
guess I was just too nosy. I got myself
stuck in this big mess.”
“Yes, you are nosy.
Nobody bothers to help her.” Heidis muttered.
“Why?” Max asked
in return, “Do you know of her extermination?”
“Of course! I plotted it!” Heidis told him and he was
completely taken aback. Then, this girl was Mohia’s man. What trouble
had he got himself into again?
“But why?” Max
asked, “What had she done wrong to deserve this?”
“You see why she’s here again today?” Heidis raised her
voice, starting to get a little agitated, “She’s always causing
troubles. Last time, she cut off our electric supply and deactivated our computer system. That cost us almost half a
million to fix the whole thing. She’s a nuisance. Nobody knows what her motive is. She never
tells, but just keeps coming to mess up the place.”
