Welcome to |
Concrete Block vs. Lite-Form ! |
Below are a few pictures from one of our current jobs. This concrete block basement is about 25-35 years old. It was built by a professional. Take a look at the cracks, the bulges, and the dampness, and then e-mail us to tell us why you would still choose concrete block over Lite-Form. |

In this photo, you can see how the concrete block wall is almost leaning in, far beyond plumb. The angle is very bad on the bottom five or six courses. What you see in this picture is correct, it is not the angle of the camera. Notice the deep crack in about the middle of the wall. The wall begins to bulge just below this crack. |

In this photo, you can see the close-up of the crack just above where the wall begins to bulge. Notice how the block above the crack is beginning to lift away from the mortar. There are also cracks in the block. Block is very weak horizontally, and these cracks would suggest that the pressure from the other side of this wall is almost too much for the block to bear. |

Here you can see the bulge again. Also notice the brown spots and the dampness. |

Here is a larger view of the wall. The crack is approximately halfway down the wall. Notice how most of the damp spots are located below the crack. This would suggest that the basement may have a problem with moisture. |
Concrete block may seem more economical at first, but if it will look like this basement in just 25 years, what is the point? Lite-Form will keep your basement drier, it will stay stronger, and it will not crack. Which will you choose? |
