During the performance, the kids also learn a couple things as they are entertained, something that Igloo thinks is very important. Igloo talks about the importance of not smoking, personal hygene, exercise, and having a security toy! All this worked into a very visual and humourous act!
The concept of "Space Igloo" came about on June 23rd 2002, when Brad Janssen, the Community Services Manager for the City of Woodstock, invited Igloo to participate in the first annual "COW.a.polooza" Festival. Igloo wanted to customize a special act just for kids, and over the next couple of weeks, he came up with the Space Igloo show! In the middle of July, Igloo began to make all his props from scratch, finishing up the last one, the model of his Space "Ship", on August 9th!
As mentioned, Igloo debuted this brand new children's act on August 10th 2002, at the COW.a.polooza festival at Southside Park, in Woodstock. There were over 2,000 people in the audience! The reaction from the crowd was over whelming for a debut act! A friend of Igloo's, Paul Totten, was able to catch most of the show on video, and this should be up on the site soon!
Since the August 10th debut, Igloo has been able to expand the original 15 minute act into a full 1/2 hour! More gags! More Props! More Fun!
Igloo also does this same show at small functions as well, and is currently accepting bookings.
