Fabulous Fotos by

Although nature has a resting time in winter, it is far from the dull or dead period one might presume. The trees and bushes, the lakes and rivers have a secret life that is revealed to those who never cease to wonder upon the miracles of nature. Oh yes, the trees look mysterious in snow, the lake beckons you to walk upon it. The snow drifts sparkle under starlight while old rowing boats on the shore dream of warm summer days.

The birchtrees behind my garden are very old, and look very wise (perhaps they are kin to the Ents from the Lord of the Rings, who knows!). They are equally gracious in their summer foliage as they are when covered in pure white snow.

In the summer the rosebush is blooming with countless red roses, spreading a lovely fragrance around it. Now, in scant winter sunlight, it's exposing the beauty of its delicate branches and those few leaves that would not desert their host the previous autumn.

The boat that has been pulled against tiny trees resembles a cloaked old man fallen asleep.

Another one rests on the shore, dreaming of warm summer days and open waters where its services will be needed again.

It's sunset time, a perfect time for me to go out skiing on the lake. Not a soul on the track but me. In solitude I admire the ever shifting colours of the evening sky and the blue shadows on the snow. A bliss!
